Abraham Lincoln inventing pancakes is as much a myth as him living in a log cabin as a child and teaching himself to read next to a fire when in fact he was a wealthy child who went to a private school

That google algorithm thing is crazy. My major was small at my college but I’d type the prewritten questions into google and it’d give the a full question after the first 2 words. Those words were like “was it” or “the first”. I figured they must be gathering data from campus and those were the questions my classmates had already looked up.

Recently ran into this channel and have been diving through the back catalogue – you already had me but your senior wiener at 1:00 sealed the deal because dachshunds are awesome.

As an Illinoian, I've heard Lincoln stack used in restaurants. The pancakes are stacked tall like his hat.
This is his home state, so we have shoved his imagery and name into a lot of things, pancakes being no exception.

Honestly, the Santa Clarita Diet lead is probably at least a factor towards the popularity of the search. I was a fan of the show, and I remember watching that scene being super confused (because I already had the knowledge that pancakes were from at least some time in BCE) and needing to look it up for curiosity's sake. Imo, I think that's it combined with the Log Cabin thing

Bruh that comment about a Scholastic book where Lincoln consumes an ungodly amount of pancakes resonated with me, I definitely recall a book like that– either that or I'm suffering from dementia. I'm going to try to find this.

EDIT: Yeah for some reason I really thought finding a super obscure children's book about Abe Lincoln eating flapjacks would be easy to find. It was not, and I have not found it.

I've seen the term Lincoln Stack used in a restaurant, but I can't remember which restaurant. I believe they call it a Lincoln Stack, because the stack of pancakes resembles Lincoln's top hat.

I've definitely heard the term Lincoln Stack in reference to pancakes, but if you said it under a context other than pancakes, I wouldn't be able to tell you what it meant.

I learned this when I was pre-school aged. Not sure from where, but I know it was a thing I knew, back then.

Abe also invented the Choke Slam. He was kinda like Brock Lesnar with a law degree.

tried typing this out in more detail, but words suck, so here's a run down (feel free to ask questions); I used to be in a homeschool activity group and one day for one class we did a "two historal figures and a liar" type game where three kids would be presented at a time and each had to give historical facts about whoever they got. however, one is a faker, and sprinkles in bullshit. I remember my friend K being Abe, and saying he loves pancakes. he wasn't the liar that round
