1% really is not anything tho lol…. and it has to be split amongst the whole BOH!!!! You should tip out those that help you make your job go round. I used to work at a place that took out 3% to tip bussers, hostesses, and the bartenders (who are making our drinks while also taking care of their own customers)…. that is fair. Heck, they still do not get that much out of it to be honest, not once it is split between everyone, and it really doesn't even make that big of a difference in the end.

My first job as a kitchen porter I would make an extra £500 per month just because the restaurant shared tips between all the staff.
I was working from 10am till 11pm 4 days per week.

I mean the owner doesnt have to match the tips, he could raise their salary so the 1% tip to the back of the house so the impact is not that hard on their winnings

I legit wish. I work 4 to close and I know the servers who work the same shift make probably 4x what I do and are getting high and sipping alcohol all day. But I mean I share so that's on me 😂

Management pitting workers against one another over a systemic issue they bribe politicians to continue. Peak capitalism.

Still throws me that companies in America can get away with not paying people properly and out it on the customer to pay instead. You guys know that's not normal, right?

Pickles' dialogues hit different when you realise he was homeless when he joined bistro huddy

This violates federal and state law, even in СаІіfцсkуа. Tip pooling is only legal among other tipped workers, even if the min. wage is the same for both, again like in Cal.
For states that allow the federally tipped minimum wage of $2.13/ hour, this stunt would clear out front of house employees in seconds…

The need to tip reminds me of a yt video on how "self-made" billionaires are a myth. One restaurant tried for one night to divide one night's income by all the workers. One comment said: "That pizzeria made 7,500 in a whole day and everyone ran off with 78 an hour that day. The restaurant I work at made almost 10,000 in a mere 3 hours the other night. I still only made 18.50 an hour, even though I almost passed out from heat stroke.
Edit: if all of us employees divided up the profits from our dinner shifts, we would’ve each made around $445.45 an hour." I bet the "if pay was fair, then prices would go up" is a myth that only benefits those on top.

When I need to see something uplifting, and know the world is not really that horrible, I watch this. Nicole loves Pickles and it’s the best ❤

The part where why doesn't the owner pay us more is an absolutely valid point. We do not tip in Australia because the restaurants here pay their staff a LIVING wage.

My first job at the age of 16 was washing dishes at a restaurant. I had really strict parents who ordered me to get a job but wouldn't let me have access to the money I'd earned; my paychecks went to a bank account that I couldn't withdraw from without their permission. But that restaurant did require the waitresses to tip out to back of house, so I would at least walk out with maybe $10-$15 in my pocket at the end of every shift. I really treasured that little bit of cash that my parents didn't know about.

I hate when waiters complain about hourly rate. F'n tips are awesome. I avariged over $50/hour in tips alone… and that was almost 25 years ago.
