today mika s-f and i are looking at 30 vs 1: dating app in real life by jubilee and man, it’s pretty cringe wowowow cringe wowowowo who cares. who cares. it’s fine. cringe is not a crime, i’m not even mad. whatever. anyway the jubilee video has like a lot of padding for time, awkward pauses on purpose, and it’s just overall a weird vibe in this dating app in real life show.

    Ok this is probably not supposed to be the weirdest thing on this video, but I find it super weird why all the guys are wearing socks, but the girl isn’t, like did she not want to wear the socks, or did they ask her not to wear socks lol.

    I'd love to turn up to this after a month of not showering, not grooming the beard and drinking constantly during that period and keeping on the same socks that I had been wearing since the beginning of that month. Then if swiped right (because of course) tell her my favourite film was Eraserhead and that I only ever watch that, several times a week.

    As ridiculous as this is, the fact that none of these people get paid is one of the worst aspects. The company makes a sh*t load of money whilst these people make nothing. Marx's theory of value in action. Unpaid work is never OKAY, unless you're helping a friend put up shelves or something.

    Also spot on analysis regarding Wolf of Wall Street being like a motivational film for cryptobros. I can't watch it due to that association and didn't really enjoy it anyway because Scorcese seems to have trouble with showing the downfall of the character, based on their own story. Its still fckin Leo and he still comes across as awesome even when he has finally fallen into disgrace (Scorcese injecting his Catholicism into his films, almost as a formula). He tries to show a downward spiral with his subject matter but it never works because he uses these A-list actors who are so much better looking and charismatic than the people they are portraying. Jordan Belford was a yuppy dweeb, Henry Hill (Goodfellas for those who didn't get who I was referencing) was a snivelling rat but casting each respectively with good looking actors and giving them cool soundtracks just didn't help with the intended message of: this is bad, don't do it or you'll end up like Ray Liotta in his prime entering the witness protection program and complaining about the food, even though he still looked super handsome, giving that handsome smirk at the end.

    Same with Fight Club which I liked as an adolescent although didn't really get it. I just liked fighting. But now it is the ultimate "sigma/alpha/kappa/lambda" go to film for incels and manosphere types. Same as American Psycho which is a parody of yuppie culture and everything that was wrong with it: toxic masculinity/masculine insecurity, identity crisis, shallowness, general insecurity and ultimately delusions of grandeur and potentially psychosis (or just fantasy – it isn't clear and is intentionally ambiguous). I wonder how many of these sigma douches who put lame generic quotes like "be a wolf, not a sheep" with the shot of Patrick Bateman walking and looking angry have actually seen the whole film?

    And Inception! The only thing that confused me about it was how much everybody seemed to love it (or pretended to).

    And Goldmember will never not be hilarious. I'd rather watch that than Wolf of Wall Street any day.

    It seems like this approach just did the same thing as using the apps, but took way longer and loaded all teh frustration and anxiety into a single day. It's got to be worse, than just using the apps, right?

    I legit gasped so loudly when you said Castle in the Sky bc it's my favorite movie ever and so many people I know have never even seen it let alone like it anywhere near as much as I do

    literally ive never felt more called out than when the red flag list came out-
    the office, friends, and taylor swift basically made up my personality from 2011-2016 and that definitely had an impact 😭

    They would likely be standing that close so they both fit in the same frame of mid shot.
    The same thing happens in film and tv for over the shoulder shots. On the screen it looks right but if you're looking at the whole thing from further back it looks unnaturally close.
    And Taylor Swift fans and/or Swifties are the biggest red flag you can get…

    I was in a Jubilee video back in August. They told me I wouldn’t get paid but when I got there they paid everyone $50. Guess it depends on the producer or something🤷🏻‍♂️

    Do you know HOW BAD I wanna go on one of those Jubilee dating shows just to be the creepiest mf ever. I will stare directly into the other person's eyes, talk about my undying love for the Human Centipede franchise and how peanut butter cake is the best thing someone could ever eat.
