Oh man, this movie was '89 so kinda "Golden Age" hip hop.
Younger viewers might think this is mostly corny and goofy and delightfully lame in hindsight, but it was largely perceived that way at release.

Fun fact about this movie. The actor that plays Brad ,Dan Gauthier, and the actress that plays the popular girl, Lisa Fuller, got married in 1990. And they are still married!!

I remember years ago being at the gym and noticing one of the TVs playing this movie, and having never seen it, I tuned in right when it went full 80s montage with the "Popular Girl" scene. I hadn't the faintest idea what I was watching but I unironically enjoyed it.
