The Unexpected End of Faith No More

Rock Feed | February 2, 2026

Faith No More fans have been asking the same question since the abruptly canceled 2021 reunion dates: is this the end? In a new interview promoting his memoir, co-founder/keyboardist Roddy Bottum says he doesn’t see the band playing again — and that “no one’s up for it.” We break down what happened around the 2021 cancelations, Mike Patton’s mental-health struggle and agoraphobia, Mike Bordin’s frustration over last-minute no-shows, and Billy Gould’s confusion about the band’s status.

took acid bath 30 years to come back after dax not only constantly saying there would be no more acid bath, but that he was even embarrassed that he was even in that band and did that kind of music to begin with.

so faith no more may be done forever…or….?

They started with a different singer on their first album. Maybe it's times to get a new lead singer? I love Mike Patton and his performance levels but to pull this BS is not good for the band or the fans

My first concert was GNR with Metallica at The Rose Bowl, Faith No More was supposed to open but for some reason, they couldn't so Motorhead did instead.
I was really hoping to see Faith No More…… I still am.

A friend and I are always trying to find band members for our "all douchebag" lineup. We've got Ed van Halen, Axl Rose, Lars Ulrich, and now Mike Patton. Commenters please help us find a bassist.

Covid broke A LOT of people. Pretty sure it broke Mike Patton.

Remember these guys are older Gen X. Post-Covid politics, the world in general, having more mistrust overall, etc. demoralizes a ton of people.

If Mike was already in a poor state, seeing/experiencing all that may've been the final straw.

One thing that never comes up…he canceled FNM and Bungle shows. Bungle reconfigured 18 or so months later. Faith No More just never communicated thereafter.

That’s legit. I had tickets. Mr. Bungle was doing two shows, FNM one, and Man On Man played two shows. Roddy showed and I was there.

Anthony "lemme show you my penis" Keidis is very happy with this result. I really hope they do one more round of shows, even if it's a shortened tour. True fans of both bands know the reality of things.

II made sure I saw them in 2015 after missing the 2010 reunion shows. When the first US dates were announced, I got tickets to both shows in San Francisco and then when another leg was announced in my state (Texas) I got tickets for Austin and Houston. 4 shows and many great songs. I would love to see them again (had tickets to see them in 2020) but I think they're done at this point. This is not Paul McCartney or The Stones and they probably shouldn't be playing Faith No More songs in their mid 60's.

"agoraphobia combined with depression and heavy drinking" so it's agoraphobia and depression hugely exacerbated or triggered by heavy drinking to the point that if he stopped drinking he'd feel well enough to have a real conversation and stick to his commitments instead of trying to prove how important he thinks he is. Definitely some tremendous egotism coming off that guy in waves, always has been.

I only came of age just after FNM initially disbanded. They were instantly my favourite band and resigned myself to never seeing them live. In 2009, I finally saw them at Download, and it was an indescribable high. Saw them again at the Brixton Academy up close and personal. Honestly, the biggest wish for me is another album rather than touring. Sol Invictus proved they could still leave their mark and i'd give anything for one more FNM album, no matter how unlikely it seems

I'm not too disappointed as the FNM reunion always struck me as an on again off again thing. Plus, it's relatively obvious joining FNM was something Patton did just to put food on his table.
