Maybe you guys should look into that whole Charlie Kirk murder thing? Like, actually watch somebody like Candace Owens take you through all of the many outrageous anomalies and the absurd behaviour of the people surrounding Kirk. Instead of just blankly dismissing the idea of a conspiracy and being all snooty about it, I mean.. Unless ofcourse somebody is paying you to do that, in which case – USA rule #1 – always go where the money leads you! 🙂

Erin, I don't think you're paranoid about Netflix at all – literally happened when I was re-watching 13 Reasons Why. I remembered a certain explicit SI/Sh scene and was braced to see it again but… it was magically not there when i was re-watching because they decided to take it out. You can still get the original episodes depending upon how willing you are to sail certain seas under a black flag, but apart from that – you're right. There's no other way I can imagine to track version updates or deleted scenes if the network decides, at its own random behest, to remove or change something. This is actually why as an 80s kid I was so reluctant to switch from physical media to streaming. What if a huge film company pressures them to only stream an edited copy of a film? We'd never know. I really wish there was some kind of audit trail and they were willing to be transparent about it. Streaming seems so nice and convenient, but when I think about shit like this, it just adds more fuel to my "fuck the future" dumpster fire.

My deepest sympathy with you Erin about your sweet cat. We lost our sweet Buddy this year, he had been my brother's cat until 2021, when my brother passed. Buddy was both comfort to us from my brother's passing, and just the sweetest cuddliest baby we've ever had. He was 10. We are now looking for an adult cat as a new little friend. Bless you and good luck <3 And thanks to both of you for keeping us sane this past year.

23:00 The hypothesis that women wont chose s*t men when they have the freedom not to is 100 percent true and look no further than Japan on why. The Japanese rank 118 globally for gender equality, women are treated horribly by men as an expectation and women are not choosing to deal with that sh*t. On paper women don't have to deal with men's bs in Japan- so they don't. Thy don't marry, they have deep friendships that fulfill their social lives outside of marriage, strong sisterhoods and they don't need men for very fulfilling lives. There are other factors in Japan, but trust the cat is out of the bag on women's freedom in the USA- you cant put the lid back on that. We will not chose these s*t a* men.

Re: Netflix retroactively changing content: there are plenty of pirated copies of streaming content stored on servers where people would compare and call them out, not to mention mountains of contracts preventing the editing of published content

Mmm I think you’re too siloed to understand her appeal, which is significant. She’s offering the promise of a simpler life. And for people who are exhausted by the acrimony, that’s very attractive. You may want to argue with that but there’s no point: you should focus one why she is successful, not why you think she shouldn’t be. Because she’s a force and she isn’t going away.
