In 1904, US Roads were full of horse wagons and rarely one or two motor vehicles…people laughed when someone said motorvehicles will dominate roads in 15 years …by 1912 too..situation was not very different…but by 1917, roads were fully dominated by moror cars …
Motors are physical just imaging digital ai agents !
ASI may be before mid 2030s

People are against a universal basic income because it's similar to communism, but they are for taking government money to fund AI facilities, even though taxing people to fund businesses is also communism.
Capitalism uses the free market for funding or banks not the government.

Biggest altman glazing juicebox channel. Nothing actually released or produced except for written word essay slop. Thank goodness I quit Youtube and gained productivity hours. Came back to see if i missed anything, Clearly NOT!

Yeah, it's hard to say when it'll happen, but it's probably somewhere between the predicted timelines of Demis H, and Ray K. Scaling can only do so much; it's clear the cost-to-benefit is increasing with each consecutive training run that companies are doing, but I also think that this hurdle will be solved. Meaning maybe scaling is relatively close to finishing out its S-curve, and someone will figure out a solution to the problem, and another S-curve will begin. Even if money is not an issue for scaling, which it is, energy usage will definitely become a problem very quickly.

    Hallo David,

    Hannes

I think Karpathy makes a good point, but is missing some critical differences. Namely, driving, which is highly regulated, is not the same thing as a largely unregulated race to be first with significantly larger amounts of capital funding.

AGI was never even very clearly defined. Saying that they are focusing on ASI instead is just typical Silly-con Valley Hype. Ignore the hype and focus on what's in front of us. Though I do have to laugh at Apple publishing anything to do with AI. That company has failed hard at every AI endeavor they've pursued. Listening to them is like taking financial advice from a homeless person.

Gary Marcus is apparently an idiot in some way. I do not blame him, because it requires to be interdisciplinary expert to understand emerging properties.

‎⁨@TheAiGrid⁩  do you actually understand what singularity is yourself? It's not just about surpassing human intelligence. It's more than that. Let me break down some key facts on ASI. Singularity is not just surpassing human intelligence, it's about understanding itself, adapting, learning, critical thinking, question logic, facts. Basically what we as human beings do on a day to day basis. It needs to be self conscious, self aware of its own internal states and changes and not just improving itself, but rather why it needs to improve it self.

Sam Altman just throws out this hype, and he said the same thing about AGI, and realised he can't achieve it so he switches the goal post.

Tell me something, are current llms efficient, do you think they understand truth from false, do you think they can distinguish fiction and non fiction?

See I get the feeling you yourself have no knowledge on AI, but just following a false reality. We can't achieve singularity with transformer architecture and its limitations, Sam Altman and all those other clowns know this.

We are basically at AGI right now, it's just that the "I" in AGI is fragmented, and not in a single system. We are going to have the individual fragments getting smarter and smarter, and in a split second they are going to "join" and we will blow right past "AGI". Once that happens most folks will say "what's the big deal, so it's smart, I don't get it".
