It’s one of those places where the neon’s still clinging to the windows, flickering out a memory of sweat, smoke, and bills that smelled like too many hands. “Bottom’s Up”… a name that tells you exactly what you’re in for. Or, what you would’ve been in for, back when the joint was alive. Now? It’s dead. But that kind of death? That’s where the good ghosts live. The perfect place to point a camera, hit record, and see what shakes loose. The perfect place, for the ghostly haunts of Adam Faucett.

Western AF rolled in during Garholeidays because that strange and wonderful yearly ritual is not just for the celebration, but for the chance that something real might happen for us on camera. And while it never seems to disappoint, this year was special. Adam Faucett was playing.

Now what’s with the Faucett hype?

You basically can’t talk about Arkansas music without mentioning Adam. In fact, if you were to talk about Arkansas music, you would have to compare it to every Arkansas musician that came before. Levon Helm, Sister Rosetta Tharpe, Johnny Cash, Iris DeMenet are just a taste of this regional palette. And Adam is the creme of the crop in our time.

Adam’s voice doesn’t come from his throat but from some gravely and gospel chamber of his inner being. Heartbreak with a knife tucked in its boot.

But why I love this video. It’s just a man singing in a place that has more confessions than most churches. It’s what Western AF is about. That hidden poetry.
