Bringing Back the Bison: South Dakota Tribe Harvests Meat for Members
Decades of tribal work to restore tribal buffalo herds paid off when the federal government shutdown disrupted SNAP benefits nationwide. In South Dakota, the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe distributed hundreds of pounds of bison meat to support families, demonstrating the power of food sovereignty and living off the land. From tribal herds to urban relief efforts led by the NDN Collective, Native communities are reclaiming traditional food systems, strengthening resilience, and using buffalo restoration to nourish their people once again.

That is a good O.I.T. (old indin trick) to use the round bail lifter on the feed truck to harvest bison.

Native plants are important too, just not as heroic and exciting as the buffalo, but even more in peril and useful for preventing modern diseases such as diabetes and obesity. Save the Pediomelum esculentum too!

Im from Europe so i have no inside into this and kinda click on interesting video but… so like.. i undestand that some of there groups of people own and are like rising bison for food, but normaly rely on the state for something like food staps? And when they dont have it they live of their heards..
Im bit confused, could nayone explain to me why there isnt better managemant inside those groups that would suport their people so they wont rely on the state even if there is not any sort of crysis or whatever is going onover there? Wouldnt that help the peole more? Again, im from diferent contitnent.
