I went to Disney World with my hs band not long after Rise of the Resistance opened and they were still using the boarding group system. In order to get a chance at riding we scheduled to leave at around 6:30 am or smth (before sunrise) for the park the one day we’d be in Hollywood Studios. Only a few of the hundred or so band kids that went got a boarding group at all, and even fewer got one that actually got to ride that day. I was one of the lucky few that did but there were so many bummed students and parent/teacher chaperones.

I went to a damn lot of theme parks this summer and have a lot of disabled friends and relatives and I am an avid fast pass hater except for providing Disabled people with the virtual que style of fast pass. Some people cannot stand in line and some people have chronic pain and so on so like in a perfect world fast pass would be a free service for those with disabilities. Cause like. If your bones hurt all day every day forever I think you and your pals should get to skip lines just this once.
My fave line solution is just making the line itself entertaining through props and environments. I’ve gone on rides (Spider-Man ride at disneyland) where I genuinely enjoyed the line more than the actual ride.

Disneyland is the epitome of selfishness destroying what should be a good experience.

Min-maxing rides and experiences so far in advance really harms the experience for normal guests.

What if you can't stay at a qualifying hotel?
    What if you're international?
What if you want to just be flexible?

FastPass was an inherently unfair system. It never feels good when staff let ~100 FastPass users through at the end of the day and everyone else whose been waiting 3+ hours is told they've missed out.

It should be an all or nothing system. You either allow everyone in the park to fairly virtually queue, or not at all, in my eyes.

    9,000 minutes equals 7.5 hours?

Tsk tsk… Sloppy work like that discredits the whole video—nay, channel. I demand all my time back in negative wait minutes…

Never went to any Disney theme park, or pretty much any other theme park. But as a software engineer queues are pretty common data structures and that documentary covers so many interesting details about them when applied to real life situations!

I like to think that if this video were played in a movie theater, the “This is Animal Kingdom” moment would be on par with Captain America grabbing the hammer.

It’s interesting seeing the differences between a franchise amusement park vs a thrill park. I live in Cincinnati and we have Kings Island near us and if you choose to buy a fast pass, you get to join the fast pass lane for the top 6 rides and get a punch out of the ride you rode. It may have changed after COVID but most people visit are the adrenal chasers for the biggest baddest coasters. Additionally, ride operators would send a full train of fast pass holders and then a train of regular queue, or some ride operators would do a 50/50 split, all depended on the manager, park capacity, how the kid was trained 🤷‍♀️
