Limp Bizkit Show Abruptly Canceled After Government Steps In
Another day, another rock show canceled in Europe. Limp Bizkit’s big Estonia concert has just been shut down, not because of low ticket sales, but because the government stepped in over Fred Durst’s decade old comments about Russia and Crimea.

The true power of what music can do. And what governments are affraid of. And the opinions of band members can represent. So pathetic. Just let people enjoy a concert for danm sake!!!

1). Crimea was GIVEN to Ukraine by Khrushchev in 1954 2). Putin, for ALL his faults, is fighting an American war, that uses Ukraine as a human shield 3). Estonia are following American cues and don't have ONE original thought of their own.

Free Speech doesnt apply everywhere, What do you expect? Keep your politics out of the music

It’s incredible to see how little factuality there is in this.
Firstly: Estonia is not Europe
Secondly: people protested the concert over Durst’s pro Russia views
Thirdly: if you’re gonna talk about censorship and governments intervening, it would be nice if you for once spoke about Palestine / how those opinions are suppressed and artists prevented from playing shows in certain countries

You really missed the mark on this one. This is getting into international politics tackling some deep rooted issues from the past, involving ongoing wars etc. but worst of all, don’t generalize like you’re doing it with Tour issues in some European countries. It’s like saying all Americans are insane psycho just cause we’re „constantly“ getting new florida man stories. That just doesn’t help the discussion and it pits people against each other – don’t think that’s what music is supposed to do.

1000s getting arrested. Ignore the right wing fake news like this. You.know why they've been cancelled. Fred Durst said Putin is a great guy, even in 2014 this is a disgusting opinion

Estonia is right though. Their sentiment on the Russian invasion is 100% on point. Doesn't matter that the comments happened 10 years ago because as you said yourself, Limp Bizkit has remain silent on the issue and not publicly come out and retracted or condemned those past statements. Y'all seem to forget that there is a real threat of invasion by this superpower right at their doorstep.. America has buffer zones all around them which means that you will never ever have that same sort of situation to deal with.. Mexico or Canada is not going to invade. We are actually the buffer zone preventing you from getting invaded.. And you have your two oceans on the other sides. So Americans have it very easy… So safe and sound in your suburbs and cities, it's easy to claim that free speech is the most important thing and should never result in government sanctions such as canceling shows.. But when you have that threat right at your doorstep and most likely have internal threats from instigators trying to rile up the local population, It would be moronic to allow an American group to perform in which they may instigate trouble by repeating stupid and absurd opinions like what Durst did 10 years ago..
It's one thing that the promoter came out to explain his past statements, but why the fuk wouldn't the band say something? Gives me the impression that maybe their opinions on Russia's invasion hasn't changed much.. And if so that's not compatible with the desire of the various European nations to NOT be invaded.
Not dystopian. It's just common sense. And the US has similar laws governing The types of public assembly that is allowed.. for instance, You might find it difficult to get a permit to hold a Adolf Hitler tribute concert, or a "Kill the gays" rally (well, unless its on Sunday, at church.. cuz the American version of Christianity seems give y'all a pass on things like that..ie: book burnings… wtf America 🤦)

Funny thing is, this is happening in the United States a lot more than I'm hearing in Europe.. And if you're not being canceled by the government in the US, you're getting canceled by the MAGA morons or the Xtreme-left snowflakes

My family is ethnic, root crimeans, lived and worked in Estonia between ca 1970-1997. Issued russian passports after the fall of the USSR and grandma got a grey one.
We arent recognized as legitimate citizens of either ukraine or estonia.
We werent, and still arent, treated like people.
Ethnic russians are still working, living and exist in large communities in Estonia, yet they forbid something as simple as freedom of speech.
War is wrong. But so is deaming an entire group of people aliens just because of where they were born.

You don't understand the history of those countries so don't criticize. You don't know if the majority of the people in Estonia actually prefer to not have Russia sympathizers in their country. Free speech should be a god given right for their citizens but it is luxury for a foreigner. Fred Durst opened his mouth now he has to take the consequences.

Just google up Estonians history and look at nowadays geopolitics (deportations, murders etc.).
It takes 2 min to find out that pro-russian statements are a highly sensitive topic within this context.
And sorry, but Europe is not China… We do NOT get arrested for posting comments on social media or
google things the government do not like.
In fact, not even those who post far-right comments are prosecuted.
It's quite ironic that you're talking about dystopian conditions in "Europe", considering the president you have in the USA… Cheers

Where's thousands of people getting arrested for online opinions?? Please enlighten us..
Maybe in Orban land it can happen that your opinion trigger a visit from Hungarian Gestapo.. but to say that thousands of people getting arrested in Europe for online content is totally false and quite frankly brainwashed propaganda. I'm disappointed in you man.
It's in America they demand your phone at entrance, it's in America they arresting citizens, regardless of their constitutional rights and protection, it's in America you're a criminal if you burn a piece of cloth you paid for, just because it has stars and stripes printed on it and it's in America the President shutting up free press and suing media.. Sorry, but we're at war with Russia, so it's unfortunate but inevitable that music and culture are dragged in. He's still playing many concerts in Europe…
