I didn't comment when this video came out, but I remember being very saddened by the news. As a teenager, Supertramp was one of the most lyrically important bands for me. He sang some of my favourite songs of all-time, such as Rudy, From Now On, Crime Of The Century, Gone Hollywood and Just Another Nervous Wreck. Going to miss him a lot. R.I.P Rick Davies 🕯

Supertramp were a musical magician, legendary, cult, refined, and extraordinary. Classy music. I'd even go so far as to say they were a match for the Beatles, if not greater. The death of the legendary Rick Davies was a very hard and powerful blow to rock and pop worldwide, even though he didn't get along with Roger for many years.

Slow motion and Free as a bird are not horrible albums at all , there are many good songs on them and masterpieces as Awful thing to waste , Tenth avenue breakdown which are in my Top 10 personal ST favorites.

Thank you for the tribute to the awesome Rick 😎. My favourite album is your least; Free as a Bird, given your obvious love of Rick’s massive contribution to the band I’m surprised you dismiss it 🤔😎. Perhaps you should give it another chance?

To say it very clear: Stan Laurel & Oliver Hardy worked only together. Like Brain May and Freddie Mercury. Like Rodger Hodgson and Rick Davies.
Time has proven that Hodgson almost performed "Supertramp"- songs-

"Supertramp" is one of the most underrated bands since today (2025). I'm a professional musician ( classic piano /jazz piano) and I followed their whole career over the decades.
The biggest mistake was that R. Hodgson quit in 1983 after the "famous last words"- tour.
"Supertramp" worked only with Rick and Roger. What is "Queen" with Brain May without Freddie Mercury"? It's been only a shadow .

"Goodbye stranger. It's been nice. Hope you find your paradise!"- thank you for the music and the great albums like "crime of the century" and "breakfast in America".

    R.I.P. maestro Rick Davies.

Another one to report… Drummer Guido 'Atomic Steif' Richter has passed away at the age of 57.
He played for Violent Force (1984-1989), Living Death (1986-'89), Holy Moses (1990-1991 & 2007-2011), Sodom (1992-1996), and Assassin (2002-2004).

Supertramp was my first concert. My friends Joe, Mike, Kevin and his older brother Keith. Keith drove us from eastern PA to Ruthers University in NJ for the show. We stopped for subs on the road. Being my first concert, I was wholly impressed and overwhelmed. The sound was fantastic and well mixed. We sat opposite the stage on the far end. I was hooked on seeing my favorite bands live from that point on. I still have the in house mini program/pamphlet. Thanks for every note.

Rick and Roger gave us some of the best and most unique music ever. I'm a huge fan and have been since first hearing "Crime Of The Century " back in the early seventies. Rick will be greatly missed. Thanks for the music, Rick.

Definitely sad about this one, though not surprised since it was pretty well known that his health was poor for awhile now. I tended to like Roger's songs more but after he left I felt that Rick really stepped it up with the great "Brother Where You Bound". You mentioned the songs on that which I consider my favorites. The title track is just so good. "Free As A Bird" really disappointed me as well. I guess the strife was there on "famous last words" but I like that album just fine. Rick's "Waiting So long" is a standout from that album. "My Kind of Lady" is pretty pop but it's damn catchy. Of course, so many good songs from those earlier classic albums!
