What nonsense. Jon Anderson's never hardly sang with Steve Howe as duo. I wonder why they keep kicking Relayer down the road LOL? Same reason I suppose why they have to do a stripped down version of Madrigal I suppose LOL

Absolutely appreciate the last 3 Yes albums. Fantastic songs on each and every one of them. I can and will never understand the mind of 'purists'. I'm grateful that such an important band in my life are still at it. Not everything they do is 'gold', I don't love everything they've done, but this modern era of Yes resonates with me either way.
Naturally, I love Glass Hammer, so Davison joining the Yes camp was welcomed by me.
Wish they'd tour Australia again 🤞

It is a shame that a band that seemed so often to be above love and peace can sometimes create so much acrimony amongst some people. Personally, while I accept that Jon Anderson and Chris Squire were arguably the core of golden Yes, the latest incarnation does involve 3 people who have their musical roots in Yes (Steve since the very early 1970s, Geoff Downes since Drama in 1980, Billy Sherwood since the 1990s), plus the drama was chosen and played with Alan White until shortly before he passed away. Jon Davison is similar but not the same as Jon Anderson and, in my opinion. does a fair job as well as contributing so much to the writing. Each to their own though. The Band of Geeks have lots of energy and flair but their first album with Jon Anderson looks back and nods to the past as much as it looks forward.

Yeah, the Ice Bridge, how does someone forget they DIDN’T write a song, until the guy who did write it says, “uh no, I wrote that”? Even after the song is recorded and released?

I had the honour of being present at the world premier performance of TFTO, at the Bournemouth Winter Gardens, November 1973.

Just thought I'd mention it. 😉

All Connected is now one of my all time favourite Yessongs . Fantastic track. I keep playing it. And Jon Davison is a wonderful vocalist and perfectly sits in Jon A, shoes, but I love his vocals.

I saw the current Yes lineup live last year on the CTTE 50th Birthday tour. What a great show the guys put on. Magnificent. Jon Davison is a truly good and sincere person and he delivers all of Jon Anderson’s lyrics and vocals perfectly. I wish him all the best for the future.
However I’d love to see Anderson, Wakeman and/or Kaye return to the fold with Howe, Sherwood and Schellen (or even Bruford) for just one last album and tour. I know that Howe feels that he’s YES now but surely that little bump in the road could be overcome before another classic YES member has passed on.

Nice guy, love the new album but Davison is a poor substitute for Jon Anderson. Never mind, Steve Howe''s 'having a ball'. Have you heard? I'm so pleased for him!

Great interview Barry, and Jon, once again, your enthusiasm for what you do is catchy!
As I give YES a chance, album to album.
I have been a fan for 52 years now. YES Fragile, which I bought and listened to daily in May 1972, became the template for the many future progressive albums I was to listen to.

YAAAAAAY!!!! Juano is one of my great friends and he's the one that taught me how to play bass. Sorry dude…I'm never going to feel ok calling you "Jon." He's a born musician. I still have the 1st bass I've ever owned that he sold me for 100 bucks. It's a Frankenstein short scale that he built. Nice interview brother. Come visit back in Seattle soon!

I know people are begging this lineup to do a proper Relayer show, and I am dreading it.
GoD seems to bring out the worst in Steve Howe and his attitude, and Geoff Downes attempting Sound Chaser is not something I care to hear.
    Nonetheless, fantastic interview as usual.

I've got nothing against Jon Davison. He can hit the notes, but he is lacking in the aura & feel that Jon Anderson brought to the band. After watching this interveiw I went to listen to some of the new songs like "Dare To Know" live. Steve Howe & Jon Davison sound awful together. It sounds like amateurs trying to find a mutual sound. Now Billy Sherwood really has the sound of Chris Squire in both background vocals & bass. Steve should stick to playing guitar. He's not a very good singer. I don't envy Jon Davison's position. He has some big shoes to fit & I personally think he fails. Jon Anderson on his own sounds more like Yes. I sure wish he & Steve would shake hands & work together again. This new music is pretty, but the lyrics, vocals & overall originality are missing.

Definitely not a fan of their recent work, or much of anything they've done since Trevor Horn's version of Fly From Here, but I like the first track I've heard from this album a lot. Jon Davison seems like a genuinely good guy. I'm definitely looking forward to hearing this new CD. When Drama came out I was appalled by the idea of a Yes fronted by someone other than Jon Anderson but that album really clicked for me when I gave it a chance and I'm hoping this one does the same. Fabulous interview!

What a treat to have a new YES album so soon after the last! Not only that, it looks it could shape up to be the one fans have been waiting for. It's inspiring to see/hear THEY are so inspired; instead of 'winding down', they seem to be enjoying embarking on a new journey/chapter. Lovely interview.

What a wonderful change to see an ego free musician who seems genuinely pleased to be interviewed and has none of the usual hang-up's we sometimes get from 'established' astists. I am really looking forward to the new album now, as The Quest left me a little underwhelmed. If it's 'punchy' as Barry says, then I anticipate something similar to Fragile (hopefully!).

I first read the title of this video as "Joy Division Interview" and thought you had figured out time travel, then just glossed over it. 🙂 Great interview with Jon!

Very good interview, Barry. I hope that your enthusiasm for the new album is reflected in a review. I agree with your assessment that Steve and Juano blend well together, vocally. Also, i don't mind Beatles influences in Yes. Or, Simon & Garfunkel. I even detect an ABBA influence on Believe Again and It Was All We Knew from Heaven & Earth. I wonder(and hope) that since the U.K tour was canceled, Yes finishes those extra songs for another album.
