It’s the first machine I’m setting up in my new space, and it’s also the perfect machine to setup in my new space. Windows XP was an era which lasted a long time, but now seems like an almost forgotten memory. However, I’ll explore why that should change, immediately.

Did you know it is possible to install XP on a HDD, then use that HDD to install XP (not copy) on another machine. You "may" need XP Pro to do this. It was something I recall from official MS training back in the day. I may still have my books from back then. if anyone is interested. I can detail how it is done.

Ai is eating the imperfect experience of computing. I did enjoy the weirdy side of electronic stuff. Theres a liminal feeling in older computing adventures, possibility was endless.
Ironically, Ai is creating a bigger distance between 'the non expert, hobbyist'' and machine xxx😃xxx

Windows was, is and always will be shite. It only became the "Marktführer (sieg heil!)", because Bill "Epstein" Gate's mother knew people at IBM .. and because VGA cards became available, despite being useless for real business .. like Soundblaster cards.

I've got a Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo P Windows XP system that I was given over 10 year ago with the restore disk and driver disk for the graphics card. It's quite a good spec system with an Intel P4 3.4GHz, and I upgraded it from 2GB to 4GB RAM. It's now being rebuilt into a different case, but am keeping the old case in case I change systems. I'm upgrading it SSD's for MS Flight Simulator 2004, MS Train Simulator, and other retro games and software. I might upgrade to a P4 extreme 3.8GHz.

those lines are typically with the ribbon cable in monitors… sometimes the pins have oxidized so some de-oxit oughta help… or the ribbon cable might just need to be re-seated… if youre brave enough go for it…

I may have spent a significant portion of my day yesterday finding and applying Vista era icons to as much of my system as Windows 11 will allow. Just to spruce up the place a bit.

I remember running at Pentium 4 HT CPU, and an ATI X850XT, I think it might have been 8GB ram not too sure anymore. I had a few hard drives went up to 1Tb. I had the Thermaltake Soprano, and some Asus motherboard with dual bios. My brother and I had a great time building that thing. All the budget went the part that we were still rocking a CRT monitor, hahaha
