    It's quite sad for The Nutcracker is my favorite Christmas fairytale. It's a classic and not all that complicated. YET FOR SOME RIDICLOUS REASON…. hollywood refuses to get it right when adapting it. The only film that came close was Barbie and the Nutcracker. I am biased when I say that for that film was part of my childhood, but over time you come to realize it was mid. But honestly, I would kill for Disney or Don Bluth to give the Nutcracker the Disney Renaissance treatment. But knowing modern Disney, that will never happen for they now hate 2D and true art. Just do yourselves a favor and watch The Nutcracker original ballet performance.

    And the thing is about the Holocaust imagery, the fact that in the non-mystical dimension (the human world), Einstein is there. So we can assume that WWII is going on at this point, but the movie frames the human world as being fun and not depressing, which further adds to the disrespect of the Holocaust survivors and victims. If you’re going to make a movie that takes place during that time, you need to frame it in a realistic way so as to not disrespect Holocaust survivors as well as any soldiers who fought and/or perished fighting against these atrocities

    It's one of the wildest depiction of The Nutcracker that someone ever made for this adaptation. Rats turning into Nazis, and you have literal Albert Einstein to be someone else's father.

    I won't mind if they turn it into a dark fantasy take of it, but they never managed to execute it very well. Where you put Nazis in a children's story books.

    My boyfriend's favourite Christmas movie is unironically Christmas with the Kranks, every year he insists on watching it and every year it's torture. The vindication I felt at 1:30 was unreal. I will be using this as evidence in our annual Christmas with the Kranks vs Home Alone argument.

    I remember coming accross this by accident, one day on a polish tv during xmas period and I started to watch it and ow my I was floored! It was nuts my grandson started to cry and scream at the same time we had to put cartoons on to calm him down

    As a fan of dieselpunk genre i actually LOVED the style and atmosphere but…exactly because dieselpunk have to be this gritty metal horror with monsters and robots and nazie-nods. As a christmas movie it sucks. And don't forget there is a Zigmund Freud in this movie as well – you missed him 😅
