One month on the wolf and bear highway

Voyageurs Wolf Project | December 15, 2025

The amount of wolf and bear activity on this trail during a single month (mid-Sept to mid-Oct 2021) was pretty extraordinary! Lots of other wildlife used this trail during this time too, including several moose, a lynx, fisher, marten, and others.

The wolves in the video are the Whiskey Point Pack, who took over the Sand Point Lake Pack territory last winter. Whiskey Point was a small pack at two wolves (a breeding pair) last winter.

However, the pack might be getting bigger! This footage is the first confirmation that the pack produced pups this year. Indeed, there were 4 pups still alive as of the end of September (see these 4 pups following an adult at the 1:50 mark in the video).

Anyway, while it appears there are “tons” of wolves in the area, most, if not all, of the wolf videos are of the 2 adults and 4 pups in the pack. The pack simply use this trail frequently to get around.

This is awesome VWP! From the title I was expecting just the packs and bears, but what a fine variety of species you revealed. Here's a big Kiss for that Moose ! xxx

Great footage loved seeing all the wolves, bears, Moose and occasional otters, fox and bobcat. Please include the date and temperature. I always enjoy seeing what the weather is like when in relation to animal activity. Thanks

Love your trail cams!! My cat and I often watch them, he loves the animals, most especially I like that you keep the cam stationary and go for that long time lapse thing…..very seamless and entertaining. Got to get in Northern Minn soon 🙂

This is great. I grew up close to the US Canadian border in the early 70’s and we saw moose, bears and wolves quite often. Now it is rare due to deforestation and poor animal resource management.
