Is Gen X Actually The Greatest Generation? My So-Called Live Stream #49

My So-Called Gen X Life | December 14, 2025

We’ve got a lot to talk about! The New York Times published an article this week asking if Gen X is the greatest generation. Other topics and activities: Dick Van Dyke turns 100, we’ll watch our weekly Mr. Rogers moment and our weekly 80s game show, plus we will scroll through some Gen X posts on social media.

Congrats on 100K views for the celebrity commercials. Off the top of my head I can think of 5 that could go in a part 2, and I'm sure I could find more. I might make a list. 📜

Let me see… No… The generation of slackers who got to sit around doing drugs and slacking and living through the peak years of the American empire before the end of the 20th century aren't as good as the silent generation and before who lived through depression or the greatest generation who fought in world war 2 or even the boomers as insufferable as they are at least many of them were dragged to Vietnam against their will. I guess it is down to competing with Millennials who are as bad slackers maybe but didn't have as many of the advantages of Gen X cause of changing times and the recession of the 2000s and the war on terror and patriot act making society worse or Gen Z who have never known any freedom or life away from social media and society sucks now. Gen X is good at one thing being the biggest braggers about how great they are.

The United States wasn't anywhere close to being beyond color in the 1980s. Minority communities were targeted with drugs, police brutality and weapons all throughout the 70s, 80s, 90s, and Reaganomics was economically harming the same populations. You can't use personal experience to generalize the US. Many people will give you horror stories of racism during those years. I didn't experience real racism growing up but I also realize, I lived on military bases which had consequences for that type of behavior. I'd never use my circumstance as a blanket reality for everyone else.

The greatest generation are basically foundlings that survived the last reset. They didn't build anything. That's a shocker but just look into the mudfloods, Tartaria, etc.. Really dig into it and you'll see what's going on. All of the "inventions" already existed before the last reset.
