What If the Earth Was One Living Organism?

What If | November 18, 2025

Even from space, you can see that the planet Earth is full of life. When you take a closer look, you’ll discover a delicate balance of millions of different life forms co-existing, and relying on each other to survive. But what if these aren’t all unique individual organisms? What if they’re all just extensions of one superorganism: the Earth? Could we all just be a part of our planet’s life-support system?

What If is a mini-documentary web series that takes you on an epic journey through hypothetical worlds and possibilities. Join us on an imaginary adventure — grounded in scientific theory — through time, space and chance, as we ask what if some of the most fundamental aspects of our existence were different.

Because no matter which angle you look at the whole system it always ends up in a cycle from the smallest microorganism to the biggest star in the universe. As long as it is alive as long as it has birth and death its a living creature. We just dont know what beyond the the stars. We are all part of this huge system.

moth earth is living being, we are it’s cells. and our cell is know as our soul or inner thoughts. like we listen to our cells (soul or thoughts), earth also listens to us.

the creditialism expressed in this video is disgusting. You should be ashamed. It wasnt the hippies it was this nice looking timid old white men,…. lets talk about the Gaia theory without mentioning the indigenous cultures names for this organism. BOOO

I think we're more like cancer cells. 🤔

We've spread across the globe, growing fast and destroying other life as we go and expand.

Now we've journeyed to moons and planets in our solar system, spreading our waste and microbes there, even to our own planetary orbit. (space debris anyone?)

If we find other lifeforms out there we'll end up destroying them too..🤨

    Yep, we're definitely cancer! 😳

Humans are not a cancer but part of the Earth's system. We are change agents, like cyanobacteria were change agents about 2 biliion years ago.

If humans ever get their act together, they also will be the means that the Earth can deflect dangerous asteroids. Also, humans could be how the Earth can recreate Earthly forms on other worlds (using AI and 3D printers).

    Earth isn’t a living organism.
    It simply isn’t possible
    Think about it
    Earth is a rock
Rocks cannot be living organisms. If it was Then…
    Doctor:
Mr Earth! Unfortunately humans are little creatures who Go to planet to planet.
They fix it and then destroy it
And the planet is abandoned I wish you good luck!

It's all about the way you want to view the world. People who look down or negatively about the world will not see that the earth and all of us and all life is really one being. Earth produced the environment for life, life grows on earth and therefore life is what the earth does. The earth people's, just like the apple tree apples. We are in a way just like the little nerve ends all over your body, the little feeling nerve ends of the earth, feeling all types of feelings and we are all saying PEEKABOO HERE I AM! It all depends on how you define yourself and if you see that you and the earth and all life on it are really one continuous being. If the earth produces life, then we are apart of the Earth's being.

Planets are alive they don't have organs they have they own thing cause they not us from microscopic to planets million size of earth alive you can't tell me nothing different maybe we're cells in the planet ?

So the earth is alive and can process toxins just like we can. And it's much older and powerful. So the toxins we produce the earth can easily process

@WhatIfScienceShow there’s another channel that sounds like it copied your exact script for their video which explores the Gaia theory. Their video was posted in 2021

    It’s the You Curious? channel

Every so called "scientist" that does not see that the universe is a living thing is just a mechanic. His mind can only process the obvious parts of life before his eyes.

Everything is alive. Life does not end at the other side of a cell's membrane. A city is an organism too. There is no isolated system in the universe. It's systems within systems, overlapping each other.

God is life itself. Everything in life is connected. We are part of a greater being. Religions are just different languages, they are an attempt to communicate this insight to other humans. With science getting more and more of the picture (macrocosm, microcosm), and people getting educated about it, it will be easier and easier for everyone to understand it.

For that:☮️, you have to see this:☯️.

Technically in a way the Earth itself actually is a living organism, in fact so is the entire universe. In it’s own cosmic way the universe as a whole is basically a living organism. It constantly keeps growing and expanding with with star clusters filled with galaxies that are basically it’s version of cells, while everything in said galaxies are the pieces that are what keeps each cell active and alive for all the life it holds in each one to survive.

I like to imagine the earth works like a giant plasma ball, you know those clear balls of flickering energy that when you touch them you can see the energy respond to your touch by connecting your finger to the core. I like to think this is what happens when we take off our shoes and walk on the earth. I also like to think that when we do this we download a lot of vital information and energy to mother earth and she rewards us with clarity of thought and extra energy. I think the increases in metal and emotional disorders can be attributed to not having enough contact with earth. This would be more the case in cities, which would explain why people in cities are unhappier and less energetic. As a child that grew up in a country town and then moved to a city as a young adult i can tell you the difference in people is palpable. Anyway, just a thought.

promoting nonsense anthropogenic global warming. The earth is not heating up, there is absolutely no empirical evidence of the earth heating up. These claims are based on globalist climate models and not on real world empiricism and are a part of the ongoing globalist agenda to guilt humanity into culling itself. I despise these guilt trips on many levels, but the most primary one is that the average person is not responsible for pollution, it is the wealthy elites who own and control the factories, government and the media.

Lovelock did not come up with this theory, it was James Hutton back in 1785 at a presentation to the Royal Society of Edinburgh who is also considered the father of geology who said that earth is a superorganism and the study of it should be physiological. If you had actually read Lovelock's book, you would have known that.

WHAT IF, you actually investigated an idea rather than just copy the Cole notes of accepted ideology.
