Thor: Ragnarok in 2017 completely reinvented the God of Thunder, who, after Thor: The Dark World– many thought had become a pretty boring character. Since Ragnarok was such a hit, it seems like Taiki Waititi was given free reign to do whatever he wanted for the sequel 5 years later.

Thor: Love and Thunder raises a lot of questions though. Like did Thor Odinson get dumber? How many times are these goats going to scream? Can we see Gorr the God Butcher butcher some gods sometime? Was that Guardians of the Galaxy tease in Endgame really just for the intro of this movie? If Gorr thought all gods only cared about themselves, why did he assume they would rescue children?

To answer all these questions and more, step inside the Pitch Meeting that led to Thor: Love and Thunder! It’ll be super easy, barely an inconvenience.

pretty sure nobody will get this but the first thing I thought of with my conservative christian upbringing is that this movie was basically an episode of bibleman:

    – Goofy lead with a colorful outfit and impractical cape
    – handheld weapon stolen from someone else
    – teaming up with/empowering children with the power of god
    – out of touch meta humor
    – wisecracking side kicks
    – pale bald villain that you never see do much of anything
    – in hindsight, not very helpful for anyone

They could've made the premis so simple. Gods killed Gorr's children so Gorr went crazy and now vows to kill every god. Thor is also a god so he's on that list too. Gorr is worthy of the sword and Thor is worthy of the axe/hammer. Have multiple scenes of Gorr butchering gods, have multiple scenes of Thor Vs Gorr 1v1s. Have it end with Thor besting him instead of all of this stupid shit about eternity and Jane Foster cancer and Thor children.

Christian Bale as Gorr was one of the biggest wastes in the MCU. He was terrifying and brutal and could've become a big multi-movie villain. Instead he's the butt of an unironic "he's right behind me, isnt he?" joke that a professional writer was paid real money to write.

God was this movie a mess and I saw it at the worst time. My mom had just passed away from cancer a few days earlier. I saw a new Thor movie was out for streaming and thought it might be fun… wow was that the most miserable time. Not a good movie and hit way too close to home

I never realized the thing about Gorr thinking gods only care about himself but his plan being to kidnap people gods care about, but yeah, that makes no sense

So much plot happens offscreen in the MCU that I can't help wondering what the hell they're spending billions of dollars on. We still never got to see Thanos get the Power Stone.

Left out the whole thing being a two-hour long Guns n' Roses video. Should have had a trigger warning on that one. I almost left the theater when they looped back around and started playing again. Even the makers of the movie ran out of GNR songs they considered good.
