No, it’s not from a movie – this couple really did rig their farmhouse with a shotgun door trap. And a burglar really triggered it!
“Katko v. Briney, 183 N.W.2d 657 (Iowa 1971), was a court case decided by the Iowa Supreme Court, in which two homeowners (Edward and Bertha Briney) were held liable for battery for injuries caused to a trespasser (Marvin Katko) who set off a spring gun set as a mantrap in an abandoned house on the homeowners’ property.”

My friend owns a backhoe. She keeps it parked on her property in view of the street. If you go to her front door a sign says "I have a shotgun and a backhoe. No trespassing"
They can see the backhoe, no reason to believe she's lying about the shotty. I've known her for 30 years. I don't think she's ever buried anyone, because she has 3 German Shepherds that'd eat your remains long before she could warm up the machine.

Hi. American here: I'll pew pew you in the g-d'in face if you break into my home while I'm in it. It's a safety issue. I have a family. (If you go far enough left you get your guns back.) Rigging a shotgun trap in a house you don't live in and you KNOW people break into often is fuckin sociopathic. They should've gone to fuckin jail. Dude wasn't trying to rob people. He thought he was collecting bottles in an abandoned house. Shit, he WAS collecting bottles in an abandoned house. Everyone that supported these folks for fuckin shooting him is fucked in the head.

Good luck proving the intent to shoot someone when you’re not home. Maybe he wanted to kill his wife, but the bugler came home earlier instead. He couldn’t know when the burglar would come because, it’s a burglar. 😂 damn YouTubers with no time to think for a second, it appears.

Why’d the homeowners leave the home vacant for 10 years? Surely a better and more lucrative way to deter intruders would have been to just rent it out? From a modern housing crisis perspective the waste of a house is painful.

i mean imaghine you search for help, go into a house and get fucking killed sure the burglar didnt looked for peoplke but he cpuld havbe a person in need especially in these times were not everyone has a smartphone (or rather no one)
the punishment IMO was more a deterrent to show others to not du such shit especially in the land, city its something different but not the land ffs
