3:46 its also worth mentioning the short film Breakaway, one of the most influential short films of the 60's starred Basil as the dancer.

It's been 8 years and just now I notice Todd's bulge in the title screen.
Why of all things I saw that.

Devo was also the band playing the music on Mickey. She was dating Gerald of the band at the time.

My first proper memory of this song is playing Lolipop Chainsaw. Ya, I probably heard it before that, but I really remember it from that game, probably why I don't hate it, cuz Lolipop Chainsaw is amazing.

6:30, nearly half the video, is when Todd says he hates the song. Kind of a testament to how incredible and talented Toni Basil is that he had to get her decades of achievements out of the way first before saying he doesn't like the song.

I watched this on mushrooms on an 80 inch tv and her facial expressions were literally horrifying

I don’t understand how it was possible for her to fall off so hard.

She really dropped the ball with this because that song opened so many doors if she had come out with another banger, she could’ve at least had two or three more hits

As someone who lived during Mickey's initial release – we've lived in terror of ever hearing it again….. Godamn it.

As much as I hate Chris Browns face and hearing Jason Darulo say his name in every song Toni Basil is not even in their league of entertainment musically.

I think you might be giving too much credit to the cheerleader angle. Choosing to put that beat front and center did a lot to help the song. Also, I’m not sure why being an earworm is a bad thing. I imagine it’s not all that easy to come up with something so catchy.

This video is like watching a baseball historian confusedly chronicle the career of a lesser-known baseball player named michael jordan and wonder why he has so many basketball accolades.
