On Today’s Episode:

Only 12% of Americans are metabolically fit. Metabolic flexibility may not be the first thing you think of when fasting comes up, but it is one of fasting’s many benefits. Intermittent fasting is often used as a tool for weight loss, but it’s not done properly in most cases.

Dr. Mindy Pelz is the holistic expert grabbing millions of people’s attention by educating them about fasting, weight loss, and reclaiming their health. Mindy is a recognized leader and pioneer in the fasting movement. Mindy’s depth of knowledge with fasting for men and women shows in how practical and not complicated she makes fasting .

In this episode Dr. Mindy really simplifies fasting at every stage, whether you’re a seasoned pro at fasting or brand new and not sure where to start. Mindy’s approach and belief is that the body can heal itself and optimal health and weight management can be achieved through the simplicity of intermittent fasting

Doing the same fast for too long is the best approach to fasting
Change 3 things today as you start fasting to improve metabolic flexibility
Fasting is about healing in our natural state not just weight loss
Fasting myths, low carb food lies, and cauliflower pizza devastation
It’s best to focus on glucose spikes not counting calories

QUOTES:

“If you want the whole world of fasting to become much easier, the first thing is to change three ingredients. Change your oils, change your carbs, […] and get off any toxic ingredients.”

“Fasting is like sleeping, it is our natural healing state.”

This is how your body burns fat. It does not burn fat by manipulating food, it burns fat by manipulating when you eat and how much time you’re giving the body a break from whatever food you’ve chosen, that’s how you lose fat.”

“We’ve overcomplicated food and we need to just come back to how do I get that food in its most natural state where it hasn’t been touched by man, and then I pair that with these different fasting windows. I truly believe that is the diet that most humans should be working from and that’s how we end chronic disease.”

“We often don’t need motivation to eat different, we need momentum.”

“I want to make health approachable for everybody, not just the people who can afford it or the people who can understand it…”

Is it just me or is there mansplaining going on here? A man lecturing a woman on societal beauty norms for women is cringe, but Dr. Pelz is a class act and brings it back. Love her!

You have to help your body eating his own fat. Do you want to feed your fat, or do you want to nourish the body? Do you want to sleep well or not? Do you want to feel good or bad? Do you want to play with your grandson or not? Do you want to have a clear mind or not? Do you wanna be proud of yourself looking in the mirror in the morning or not? Do you want to feed you worse than your dog? Do you feed yourself worse than your car? You want to close your shoes without losing your breath? You want to eat food or things, products with a barcode? Do you want to be proud of yourself and treat yourself with respect, or do you want to complain later because you've fed your body junk your whole life?

Fasting is a great tool but we also have to remember that when we eat we should consume a variety of nutrient dense foods preferably whole food plant based. Meat is one of the most processed toxic foods we can consume. Been WFPB for over 8 yrs and have kept my weight down. My cystic acne totally went away. My anxiety and hot flashes, gone. Not all carbs are the same in the vegetable world. And you can still go into ketosis while not eating meat. I love the variety of foods I can eat and how much energy I have. I rarely eat processed carbs. Occasionally I'll have sprouted bread, keto tortillas, or high protein pasta. I had to learn about good carbs and bad carbs. blessings to y'all and your health journey.

I’ve learned so much good comes from fasting. I’m gradually increasing my fasting to 23 hours per day. I eat at 9:00 am everyday. Another thing I found for myself is that eating turkey with cranberries, potatoes and carrots makes me satisfied for 23 hours. I have to decrease the portion I eat, because I fill a plate full. I’ll try eating half a plate. Also I take a multivitamin. I drink lots of plain tea. Hot water and loose tea only.

Great interview, thank you. What would be really helpful though is a description of the "symptoms" of when you're kicking over into fat burning, like, what does it feel like. For those of us who get stuck in the hunger phase and can't get there, it might help to know what to look out for.

In Dr. Paavo Airola's book 'How To Get Well" from the 1970s, he recommended a water enema daily for prolonged fasts over one day. This cleans the toxins out which probably will help you feel much better during a fast.

Repetition is not natural in nature. No one in nature would adhere to a schedule of eating, calories, macros, same movement or exercise daily or even same food availability daily, seasonally. Makes zero sense and creates no real metabolic change as we adapt as humans to the same thing over and over. No hard, no uncomfort.

Thankyou for your podcasts. 99 % people think I’m crazy. Doing carnivore. Bacon eggs meat and butter and whipping cream in my coffee. Did 40 hour fast. I haven’t lost lots of pounds but inches. Probably on need to lose 20 pounds. But I’m feeling fantastic. 72 and take no medicine. I got started on this because i need cataract surgery and couldn’t get my rings off. I can get one ring off but my eyes are improving. I believe i my not need the surgery by time my appointment comes around. Im on 6 months waiting list. Love my new way of living. It fits me perfectly. Walk my dog. I’m looking for tallow cream today. So sad for the lost souls that can’t give up cakes etc. i feel like i have this great secret. 😂❤. Thanks again. I’m on one meal. About 5 o’clock. Started going to bed early. Added minerals etc and drink my water.

I'm 70 hours into a 4 day water fast and I'm feeling the best I've felt in awhile. The worst was the first 36 hours not in an uncomfortable way… but in a inner dialog from the sugar addict in me asking me to give in and eat some sugar… after 48 hours that voice left. The plan is to reintroduce veggies and fruit and meat but limit the artifical sugars as much as I can.

When I meet a woman I just assume she has or had an eating disorder. Maybe but most of us men have a substance issue usually alcohol or pot. I think that is worse.

✨🙏 What an inspiring video! Reading through these stories gave me the courage to share mine.

Last year, at 47, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and felt like my life was slipping away. I was constantly tired, struggling with brain fog, and chained to medications that only “managed” the problem instead of fixing it. Then I discovered intermittent fasting combined with real, whole foods — and everything changed. 🌱💪

At first, fasting felt impossible. My cravings were intense, and I thought I’d give up. But after just a few weeks, something clicked. My blood sugar stabilized, my energy came roaring back, and I even started walking my dog 3–4 miles daily 🚶🐕. Soon I had the motivation to go swimming twice a week. In just a couple of months, I lost over 20 pounds, reversed my blood sugar numbers back into the normal range, and, most importantly, I felt alive again.

What truly amazes me is how fasting not only reshaped my body but also gave me mental clarity and emotional strength I hadn’t felt in years. 🧠✨ Now, I see food differently—it’s no longer about constant snacking but about nourishing my body at the right times.

To anyone struggling: it’s never too late. Whether you’re 30, 50, or 72 like some of the amazing people here who shared their journeys, fasting can be a second chance at life. 🌟 Thank you, Dr. Mindy and others, for spreading wisdom and giving us the tools to reclaim our health. 🙌❤

Great topics and concepts discussed, the one thing im left questioning is "are we working with the same hormones as we have always had?" Because how would we know that and also how would all these toxic foods not disrupt dna (and assumably, homones) over time as we are discovering more about currently

Dr. Mindy was fantastic. I had to stop watching when the host did the usual psuedobiological argument crap to justify a shallow focus on appearances though. I mean dude, look at your assumptions – "women need to complete for male attention, with each other" .
THAT is culturally driven and you don't even recognise it.
Dr. Mindy handled your failure to see through your own indoctrination SO well. But politeness is not consistent.
Will be subscribing to Dr. Mindy. This guy can go hunt for a 22 year old
