Navy SEAL’s Guide to Escaping Capture | Deadly Survival Skills
The final episode in the series takes a look at the last tips of the book, and how to evade capture.
“You will learn how to escape a locked trunk, make an improvised Taser, trick facial recognition software, prevent tracking, evade a kidnapping, elude an active shooter, rappel down the side of a building, immobilize a bad guy, protect yourself against cyber-criminals, and much more — all using low-tech to “no-tech” methods.”

Never underestimate the power of duck tape ( Yes, duck tape was the original name for it in the U.S. Army but when civilians started using it after the war, it became duct tape. Both names are acceptable. 🙂).

A j turn and a handbrake turn are 2 different things. You first describe a handbrake turn and then a Jturn

With the handcuff thing, it relies on your captors not learning kidnapping 101.
Firstly, they are supposed to get the backs of your hands facing eachother. It makes it nearly impossible to escape, and it's how they are designed to be used. You can't shim em' with a bobby pin if your palms aren't facing eachother.
But even if you do, there are two locking mechanisms on handcufffs. If they just close them on your wrists without locking them out, yes, it's very easy to shim (like most people with a bobby pin and a 30 second explanation will do it no problem if their hands are facing eachother) However, there is a little button to lock them and this will make shimming impossible, although picking the cuffs will still be relatively easy if your palms are facing eachother. If you get your hands infront of you, even if they handcuff you properly but don't lock them out, you could shim them with a bobby pin in your mouth – if they are locked out, unlocking them will be drastically harder (although still doable by mouth and bobby pin if you know what you are doing)

J turns — When I was 16 ( 1996 ) I saw a video of the Secret Service doing a j-turn in the Beast limo.
So me amd my friemds went to the mall parking lot and did J turns until the mall security guard with chase us out we did this throughout the.
We would practice RJ turns until the guy came with driving circles while he chased us and then we leave.
At least 4 times that day and again the next until they parked a real police car there .
Great times.
In the police academy we learn these maneuvers too.
I was the #1 scorer in my driving part of the police academy.

1:52 reverse 180 usually use foot brake to lock the front wheels, Just like a hand brake turn but with car facing opposite way 😆

I know this is an old video but I just have to say that when doing a j turn you must keep your thumb on the button when raising the emergency brake aka hand brake. If you don't your axel will lock out and most likely cause you to lose control depending on the speed

J hooks are done in reverse not forward. if you run into a situation on the road, you put the car in reverse and stand on it. Reverse is geared very low, so you will accelerate backwards faster than you could accelerate forward. but because the gear is too tall you can only go so fast. Whip the wheel in the opposite direction you want the front end to swing and and slap the brakes hard once the front end is swung the direction you want. This is not to stop the car but to stop the wheels from spinning so you can slam the car into drive WITHOUT damaging the transmission. as long as the wheels are not spinning you can shift between gears regardless of engine RPM. Once back in drive facing the correct direction slam on the gas and go!
