A decline in vehicle deliveries of 16% means people are still buying a lot of new Teslas. And doesn’t seem like the sort of drop in sales you’d expect, considering how toxic the CEO has made the brand.

I don’t understand this. Who is still buying these cars?

As someone whose owned and driven a Tesla since 2018 and using Lane Assist, I would never use Tesla Full Self Driving – too many dangerous situations have occurred to feel safe. I have used a Waymo in Phoenix and would do it again. I probably wouldn't use a Waymo in SF though.

Charitably, i think the Tesla Exec was just saying that, while the overall solution is generalized, there are specific challenges in different regions that will need to be worked out. E.g. snow must be detected and accounted for in places like Boston, but the team doesnt have to solve that problem if the network is only operating in Austin.

Nice vision about making your tech work anywhere, Elon. Are you considering all kinds of laws and regulations everywhere too? Or you're doing the same thing you were doing with the Cyberflop, namely that you just wanted to build a toy and then were shocked no European country's allowing that appliance on its roads?

To be fair about Optimus, the hardware is still the limiting factor for humanoid robots for now, not AI to power them.
Speaking of power, battery is also a huge bottleneck for mobile robots too. We need no less than a breakthrough in battery tech to get these robots useful

"Burndown" is a software developement term used to refer to remaining tasks to be completed (you "burn" te post-it note that has written the task on it, once it's completed).

Tesla is a tech stock that owns the production vertically which separates it from other car makers. Even though there main revenue source is cars it is expanding is revenue sources with self driving cars and robots. Tesla is ahead with USA made ai robots and the potential for that is unimaginable.

Robo taxi doesnt make sense. Theyre gonna get rid of the cheapest part of the business (the driver) and replace it with an expensive complex system to drive people? Right there that sounds like something that needs to be amazon size to make even a sliver of profit. Next, the vehicles are unsupervised? lol Yea, fat chance. I have like 10 other reasons why this is bad from a biz to practical aspect. Plus FSD is not gonna happen.

A 99% market share in robotaxis? Waymo is a superior and safer product/service. Also, that would make them a monopoly and Trump won't be president anymore to shield him come 12pm on 01/20/2029. Re: Optimus, I don't think Elon has heard of Figure AI, whose CEO is SOLELY focused on one product, one company, and is not meddling in politics, i.e. alienating potential customers.

"I don't know what Regan-esque means in this context"

Listen to some Regan speeches and it will become clear pretty quick. Regan would always paint this flower and idyllic picture of America. He's basically saying "hey imagine I said stuff like that about our upcoming situation". The fact that much like Musk Regan was also full of shit is just a happy coincidence

00:47 no, it's not the most valuable car manufacturer, a tech company yes, but not a car manufacturer, because for that Tesla would have to be listed as such, which Tesla isn't, so stop comparing Tesla with other car manufacturers.

None of this stuff works (Optimus, Robotaxis…none of it!). Musk has finally backed himself into a corner with this Austin promise. He is preparing to blame "regulation" for the failure but surely this time everyone will see him for what he is.

Self-described capitalists are so bad at capitalism now. Elon Musk traded in the liberal car buyers who wanted electric cars and were willing to pay good money for them, for conservatives who only buy F150s and think EVs are for pussies. In no world does that tradeoff make sense.
