This just proves that if Nick ever wants to keep a secret from Mateo, all he has to do is spell it like a toddler like we’re taking Mateo to the DOCTOR and he has no idea where they’re going

Antidisestablishmentarianism is the philosophy of being against the separation of church and state– broadly, the belief that religion should be a codified part of the governmental process. Not quite advocating for a theocracy, but definitely against a fully secular government. And now you know!

It was 5th grade when my teacher wrote the word antidisestablishmentarianism across the board and said that by the end of the year we would know how to spell it and we did

As a former multiple spelling bee champion, I love this episode. Antiestablishmentarianism isn’t the hardest word to spell. It’s those damned scientific/medical/disease words that are so esoteric that trip millions up.

Onomatopoeia. I was given a trick to remember how it is spelled: Yoko ONO on a MAT doing karate with Edgar Allen POE. She yells IA when delivering a blow. Then put an O after the mat.

I have a similar story about spelling bees.

I was the top speller in my school and I went on to do a spelling bee with each top speller from each glass, grades 5-6.

I was the first one to spell the first word in the spelling bee.
The teacher on stage reads off the word, "decay".
I thought, Oh, i got this one! and I spell out, "d-e-c-a-y".

I'm waiting for the teacher to say, "yes", but instead, she stares at me, waiting, and gives me that look, like "are you done? are you sure".
This of course freaked me out! What was I missing??!? She's waiting!! OMG! So, I say, "e?". She says, "no".

I'm the first one out. I have to sit up there on the stage for the entire rest of the spelling bee. I was so humiliated and embarrassed.

When the next kid got up to spell a word, I finally figured out what the teacher was waiting for… I had to repeat the word when i was finished! I DID SPELL IT RIGHT!

    I'm too ADHD to perform.
