Hey everybody! I hope you enjoyed this video – “The Story of the WORST Audition on The Voice”. While Cupid may be a talented singer, his decision-making skills aren’t exactly up to par. Shoutout to The Cupid Shuffle, shoutout to Scooby-Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed, shoutout to The Cha Cha Slide, and shoutout to doing ridiculous things for YouTube views.

Let me know if you want me to make more videos on the worst / best auditions on singing shows like American Idol, The Voice, etc. This was super fun and I really liked how it turned out.

If you liked this video, be sure to share it around, like, subscribe, etc. Thanks!

So many people on The Voice, especially during the early seasons, were already quite famous. One of the winners of like season 2 or 3 was the lead singer of Hey Monday. And one of the runner ups was a really big Christian rock singer.

This is so hilarious….fast forward to 2025, Cupid is the biggest line dance king in the world and is not a one hit wonder!! 😂😂

Legit! This audition/performance lives RENT FREE IN MY HEAD. It baffled me too! Like bruh, whyyyyyyyyyyyy? Make it make sense! It was cringe to the max! It was so sad and pathetic feeling. Like a part of me died a little inside for him! I would have crawled into an attic never to be seen again! But, I still play his song as a DJ so maybe his attic is nicely furnished.

Me not combing back through my memory to realize that indeed it wasn't an overabundance of 'adult beverages' to why I've no idea what in the hell a Stupid Chuffle is…

Like, for reals…this was a thing?
    But…why?

Logically he should have came back next year… yeah did he get embarrassed this time yeah… but he can sing so… why not come back… or go on American idol or something… I’m sorry some people are stupid and don’t think of how they can get re exposed

Cupid, Kanye and Orlando Brown (off the top of my head) have an *interesting (*neurodivergent) way of thinking about things. It's terrible that we laugh because we just don't understand where their mind is at

My college hired Cupid to come and play at convocation for the first year students a few days ago. I'm by no means a freshman, but since the marching band had to play at convocation I came into the room right as he was warming up. There was an inherent sadness about the whole situation. The band, as well as the cheerleaders and some of the sports teams were in that room and not a soul knew who he was. We only thought to Google what he looked like when he started singing The Cupid shuffle and he sounded eerily similar to the actual recording. He was a lot more enthusiastically received once he was formally introduced at the actual ceremony, but even still. I have to wonder if he hadn't been introduced, and he had just gone up there and sang with anybody have ever known? Just the idea that a man can make what is possibly the biggest party song outside of the Cha Cha slide and then have a whole room full of people who grew up with his song not recognize him is a little upsetting.

There’s a ton of videos on this subject but here’s the juice: The voice is only for the judges it’s a promotional tool to promote their careers. Not a conspiracy theory that’s actually how the show works. American idol star search those are different shows. The voice is just so Gwen Stefani can release a new album. Isn’t that insane?

The thing is it really isnt a song to show off when you cant see anything if its just audio only and noone is danceing the cha cha slide isnt really that good to just listen to. i mean put it this way would you listen to the cha cha slide on the radio while driveing to work? like its a great song for a disco or a wedding but there is a visual element to the song that dosnt work as well when you can only listen to it. really he should have known that it was a bad idea picking that song from the start and thats even before we mention how sad it is that someone who techincly is already known has to go on a tallent show to get peoples attention

Of all the contestants on The Voice from seasons I only listened to in the background of chores (my mom's a fan, I'm not in the slightest), the only ones I honestly remember are as follows:
    – Christina Grimmie (remember her for being a voice contestant who came in 3rd or 4th, and was shot by an obsessed fan during a show in Florida).

    – Melanie Martinez (for being the contestant with a toxic fanbase both during her time on the show and well after).

    – Jordan Davis (just because I remember seeing his albums sold in FYE and Target for longer than his first year after the show, indicating that he actually has a bit of a career beyond it).

    – Javier Colon (the first season's winner; and the only reason I remember him isn't even for the music, but for the fact that he was plastered ALL OVER THE PLACE – to an aggravating degree – in promotion for the show; so much so that it became blatantly obvious that NBC was saying "hey, watch this down-on-his-luck schmoe win the whole thing! Watch, please!!")

Oddly enough, I'm Canadian and the first time I heard this song was in 2014 on a cruise ship in Miami and EVERYONE on the boat knew and did like a choreographed dance when this song came on, on the main deck and this song NEVER made it back to Toronto. I kept waiting to see if it became popular at events and clubs later, but nope.

I don't think he chose to sing that song himself. I know multiple people who have been on these kinds of talent shows and more often than not, the directors of the show choose what song you have to sing. For instance, a friend of mine (who's amazingly talented) was forced to sing wonderwall because they thought it would fit his "image". Needless to say, he stepped down because he couldn't stoop that low, thankfully.
