I had tickets to see Biz at a concert at some ho-chunk casino and was so excited. But it got canceled because of covid, seeing the refund was worse then everything else going on. Then he got sicker and sicker and passed out of nowhere..

That bad singing was the "hook" of the song. That was what made us all love it. The bad singing was the whole point. He sounded so REAL in his anguish. Take it from an old-school hip-hop fan who was there.

😂 if there is any hope for the future it is going to be definitely from The Joy biz markie brings to the next generation. The biz seems very intelligent just portrays ignorance. There's no sense in being tough and serious all the time. Sometimes it feels good just to smile and say damn my bad

Every now and then Biz would appear live and absolutely smash some freestyle, or some highly complex MC style and then just wave at the crowd and walk away. Love the Biz.

Really love how much the rap community embraced Biz. Just got back from the Wu-Tang’s farewell tour, and while RZA was highlighting all the hip hop legends that have passed, he put Biz right up there with Biggie and Phife Dawg. He truly was one-of-a-kind.

He really doesn't qualify as of one hit wonder or as the incompetent person you described. He really is a legend to actual 80s rap heads. You did get it right about his first album it was an absolute landmark record at the time. I was about 15 when it came out so yeah I grew up in the Golden Age of rap thank God. And the Goodwill you describe that came after that was mainly because of his good-natured attitude.

I remember hearing Biz on the radio and thinking what is this who is this this is awesome. It was like nothing I'd ever heard, it was new, it was weird, it was Biz.

I’ll tell you this, every joint on his first album was hittin’ on the street, vapors ,make the music, something for the radio ect….he’s an indisputable hip hop legend

He is very likely one of the best freestylers of the 80s. He was good friends with Big Daddy Kane, arguably the greatest freestyler in history and top 10 mc ever, who wrote nearly all of Biz´ lyrics and Biz was also a member of the Juice Crew. He is a clown, on purpose.

This is a 5-star rap legend. Todd is completely wrong here and doesn´t get the talents of the Biz.

Back in 2015 I went to a concert (unrelated band) in new york with my then-bf. We got on the subway, and I was quite drunk. I started singing the "baby youuu" part to him, the only part of the song I knew lol. And not unlike a gdamn tumblr post, a couple people joined in and clapped the beat. It fizzled out reallyyy quickly but I was SO TICKLED. Its one of my fave concert stories to tell, though frustrating that it sounds made up as feck lmao

I cant remember if this was the time we saw The World Is a Beautiful Place & I Am No Longer Afraid to Die or Meg Myers (that one rocked omg)

R.I.P to Biz Markie. He may not have been taken seriously, but his understanding of hip hop and rap was definitely serious and he was a great person. He seemed like he was just here to rap and have a good time and I'm fortunate he wanted all of us along for the ride.

Picking is one of the best story raps. Biz was a one of those you got what you got and it was a good time, every time. Not to hard, not to soft, full of mistakes that were not at all accidental. Silliness and funky fun that got you to put down the pretense of cool.

Following his big hit, he made his own mixtape called “Theory of Old School” featuring a mix of R&B classics and slow jams made by Biz Markie. It’s a collector’s item, but it has been popped up every so often. I remember that I had that tape once and I loved it, but not a rap expert, I love the old songs.
