A Houston Flood Leads to A Displaced Tiger | The Vet Life | Animal Planet

Animal Planet | October 2, 2025

Houston is devastated by heavy rains and fatal flooding. The doctors put their emergency plan into action and help the local community by taking in animals displaced by the storms. Dr. Lavigne and Dr. Ross examine a young tigress that was turned into the shelter after she was found roaming a residential neighborhood. As Houston recovers from the record-breaking flooding, “Nala” the tiger receives national attention and the doctors help her find the perfect new home at an animal sanctuary. #AnimalPlanet #TheVetLife

Why americans aren't banning people from having wild animals as pets? In many countries we certainly can't own a tiger, it solves the problem right there.

as a Scottish person I find it strange that your Vets as we call them in Scotland are classed as doctors. Is that not just confusing and unnecessary and also a wee bit egotistical.
Don`t get me wrong I love animals and respect vets for all their hard work and years of training they have to do to become a Vet but not the ridiculously expensive charges. You will never meet a poor Vet but they are not proper doctor `s .
sorry for my weird rant but be a Vet

I'm so very glad that cub is in a sanctuary! People who try to keep wild animals in a home are selfish and don't really care about the animals. I'm not talking about people who rescue special cases where an animal has disabilities or something, and people essentially turn their homes into small sanctuaries for a specific case. I mean people who take a healthy wild animal and try to raise it like a domestic pet

I'm SO GLAD Nala went to an animal sanctuary. The keeping and breeding of tigers by private owners is just evil. Not only are these amazing animals that are built to travel tens of miles a day kept in a cage that's the equivalent of a human being locked in a toilet stall, but the mothers are forced to be constantly pregnant with their cubs taken from them when the cubs are just a few days old. The private ownership of big cats NEEDS to be banned.

Its so sad that because of some idiot poor Nala has to live in a cage for the rest of her life. Just because some idiot thought it would be "cool" to own a tiger. When are people going to learn that owning a wild animal is selfish and so unfair for them? They belong in the wild, living amongst their own kind. LEAVE THEM ALONG!!

Poor girl mustโ€™ve been so stressed when she was stuck inside a confined space and much more stressed when inside the shelter. Poor girl will get the space she needs to roam when sheโ€™s inside the sanctuary sheโ€™s placed into.
