Most of relationship problems are just from not communicating and not being honest or your partner not liking what you honestly think. Personally i don't think i have the same view of love as other people do. I just want a roommate that you can be romantic and cuddle with. i don't know if that's how the average person thinks of love though, im so different from people there's no way i can know. People who get infatuated with someone i'll never understand, to me personally people aren't that interesting, including me.

The answer is to simply conquer your loneliness. To understand that the purpose if life isnt to fall in love but the purpose of life is to live. To simply live and enjoy life in all its beauty and truly appreciate itm once you understand that you will eventually stop feeling lonely

I love your security vs freedom comparison. Really sums up my trouble when it comes to love I'd like to love someone forever. At the same time, I don't want to restrict their freedom or feel like I'm bound to them either.

Hmm, I feel that you overcomplicate the notion of love… You either love someone or you don’t. The grass isn’t always greener on the other side. It’s not always about romanticizing people whom you haven’t met. You’ll never be happy if you are constantly romanticizing all the what-ifs. Lots of relationships require work & healthy communication, and the saddest part is how people romanticize all the people that they don’t know or have.

Oh god, this whole thing is me. I’m alone most of the time, I haven’t left the house in months, and I love being alone, I feel it’s the only time I can fully let go and be myself. But while I’m alone I tend to crave others, just someone to laugh with and spend time with, either a friend or a partner. But when I try to socialise, after only an hour or so, I tend to get depressed and feel the need to be back alone again, I get incredibly upset and sometimes anxious and on the verge of an anxiety attack, it’s like I’m gonna die if I don’t get home to be alone. And it cycles like this throughout my life. This is why I have no friends, and no one apart from family. I tend to dream and fantasise about a relationship, someone from my dreams that is perfect in every way, but relationships I’ve had in the past tend to make me claustrophobic and feel like I’m trapped in a way that I don’t want, yet I still crave the idea, almost every night, as my dreams take me to that perfect me with that perfect them. I’m so upset by these cycles that I feel I’m just going to be alone forever, I wish I had friends and people I hold close but it’s so difficult for me in these ways. I’m so glad I’m not the only one that struggles with this, I prey that everyone else finds a manageable balance and can figure this weirdness out.

When I tried to explain this analogy to my ex girlfriend, all she could respond with is "you slept with both my sisters, fuck off". Some people don't even try to open their minds 😪

to be honest… i feel like falling in love is a lie. when i feel love, i feel like i transcend a bit of our measly human mundanity and i feel some kind of erotic unity with all of life and the awe filling emotion that out of infinity i exist, a very calm but euphoric emotion of disturbed water finally falling into place and giving an enlightening and clear view of everything from an altitude. When i love its… the pinnacle, its something beyond me yet deeply personal; its intimate, mutual even. something at which i am willing to reach through all the painful thorns that may be in my way. per aspera ad astra. and yet i still feel a wall of fear and pain stopping me from ever declaring it to another person, as of falling from such a height would surely, kill me. its like inside me a thorn of fear wants to chain me in cold security against the thorns of friendship and true love. its like i somewhat fear pleasure still, and find that old dusty, rancid comfort in pain telling myself; oh, but i suffer still a bit, that must be necessary and justifies me a little. the necessity of pain is a weakness. a little part of me still thinks i merit suffering; but in this wide world i find it hard to find a true case of merit; mostly i encounter the opposite of my will, and i am quite happy in being contradicted. so that is my, odd approach to joy. maybe the day comes i tell that special someone i love them, and i will either truly start to live or die, in one way or another. what seems like an existential crisis is not at all a crisis in my eyes, i think it happens to all of us eventually, and it can blossom into something quite beautiful. but i choose to be an artist, not a philosopher.

Whenever my partner and I discover a new way that we are fundamentally different I say “this is another quill we have to sit with”. I think for me the best remedy for this was acceptance. If I can accept my partners flaws and he can accept mine, we can experience true intimacy with each other. To me, it is without a doubt worth the pains of the relationship.

The porcupine analogy reminds me of the song "Fear & Delight" by The Correspondents. My interpretation of it is loving someone despite knowing that it may be causing you pain. Wanting to run away, but still staying because you feel like you need their love.
