I have an american king piegeon, which istn't able to fly because of it's weight. Also a very cruel breed I know is the bokhara trumpeter. They are a little bigger than normal pigeons and have huge long feathers EVERYWHERE. So they can't see, they can't walk and they cant fly. 😢

Why do people do this to these poor birds like someone’s life ruined just for someone else to find them cute wth 😭

Also no hate but don’t throw some bread for the pigeons, it’s a common misconception that it’s ok but it makes birds very ill

So when i walk in the street i usually respect pigeons and give them their space by walking around them
And then i see parents actively encouraging children to attack pigeons like some pitbull chasing squirrels, i saw a mother going like "GET IT" and the 6 year old runs like a rapid dog to catch the pigeon and the pigeon flies on my face out of panic

Like my god pigeons are like the most chill creatures out there and extremely friendly to humans why do that

Pigeon rescuer and rehabber here! I sort of understand the appeal of birds that are "different." I mean, when i get a rescue feral bird and said rescue has a cool looking pattern, or maybe different colored eyes or nails, i go "ohhhh pwetty!"

That being said, the health of the bird is always the first thing, any looks only matter later. Why purposefully breed something that has trouble actually just existing? Why breed birds that cannot even hatch on their own or feed their own young?

Why make a special needs bird when you can, like, not do that?

    lemme check:
    – pugs existing
    – sphinxes existing
    – thoroughbreds existing
    – this video existing
    – oh, also pet reptiles in general

    what isn't suffering?

plot twist: we do this to plants as well. why do you think variegated plants die easily? also also, to our own kind (royal families, whatever is in alabama, and in some sense, idol industry)
