How ICE Detentions Make Private Prison CEOs Richer

More Perfect Union | September 24, 2025

We talked to detainees and prison guards to unearth the violent and inhumane conditions at private prisons. “In these places, human rights don’t exist. You don’t even exist as a human,” one former detainee told us. Meanwhile, the CEO of private prison company CoreCivic is worth $20 million.

Increase the death penalthy requirements to include everyone doing more than 10 years. Rapid fire executions too, no more sitting in prison for decades.

Check it, since 1516, minds attacked and overseen
Now crawl amidst the ruins of this empty dream
With their borders and boots, on top of us
Pullin' knobs on the floor, of their toxic metropolis
But how you gonna get what you need to get?
The gut eaters, blood drenched get offensive like Tet
The fifth sun sets get back reclaim
The spirit of Cuauhtémoc, alive and untamed
Now face the funk now blastin' out your speaker
On the one – Maya, Mexica
That vulture came to try and steal your name but now you got a gun
Yeah, this is for the people of the sun!

Yeah, never forget that the whip snapped ya back
Your spine cracked for tobacc-oh, I'm the Marlboro Man, uh
Our past blastin' on through the verses
Brigades of taxi cabs rollin' Broadway like hearses
Troops strippin' zoots, shots of red mist
Sailors blood on the deck, come sister resist
From the era of terror, check this photo lens
Now the City of Angels does the ethnic cleanse, uh
Heads bobbin' to the funk out your speaker
On the one – Maya, Mexica
That vulture came to try and steal your name but now you found a gun
You're history! This is for the people of the sun

    It's comin' back around again!
This is for the people of the sun!

The government run jails and prisons are bad enough. Privatizing custody over people is a terrible idea.
Edit: hearing that CEO talk about being excited about the prospects. Ugh

As someone who has been locked up for years innocently "later charges dropped" i can tell you it was appalling in there. Rotten food. Meat with green spots on it slimy. Moldy milk. Food with rocks in it. And the beatings by cops. Thrown to the floor, dragged under stairs where the camera cant see you and beaten. There is so much more but the worst and i mean worst was the medical. There was none. 4 people died in 3 years i was there to medical neglect. There entire medical diagnoses is checking blood pressure. If you are having seizures or any medical problem whatsoever' they come and check your blood pressure and if it is good they say you are perfectly fine and throw you back in the cell. And if you are in need of treatment if you get any it is always saltwater. They come to you twice a day with a Styrofoam cup and packets of salt. Apparently saltwater cures all. I was in there with several spanish and they were being held on no caharges for 2, 5 and even 6 years. They committed no crimes. They where just waiting to be processed to be sent to mexico. I have been free since 2017 and not a day goes by i still dont think about that place.

😮shocked 💔 heartbreaking 💔 to hear 💔 this is happening in the USA, they preach to the whole world about human rights abuses & put sanctions on countries. Lots of human rights abuses taking place in the USA. Who will place sanctions on the USA???????

This is what happens when you vote the wealthiest people into power. They help each other to make more money by trampling all over the rest of us- the bottom 85% of the country who are living paycheck to paycheck or are unemployed altogether. They will squeeze us until we are unalived.

The welfare states child support recuperation policies have been running men through a 6 month cycle of "work release"- home and back for 2 generations. Those awesome " prison alternative" programs the left has waved around? The exact point where private prisons pick up both their inmate supply and legal protections.

How long have people been protesting and lobbying against for-profit prisons? How many years?? This isn't really news, so much as it's just the next evolution of a massive institutional human rights violation that has been increasingly worsening for decades.

Stop the lobbying they will change everything. This is America. Money laundering government. State lobbying federal lobbying. Unbelievable how this is legal.
