Rockwell felt like somebody was watching him, but they weren’t watching him for very long.

Listen, the Jheri curl is one of the only things for which “It was the 80’s” is a completely appropriate excuse.

Not feeling the DeBarge and Teena Marie slander ONE BIT. Still, the rest is dead on. Salute…and such.

Is this really a One Hit Wonder? Because you get the impression that this is actually a Michael Jackson song that features Rockwell, rather than the other way around.

When I was little, there was period of time when "Somebody's Watching Me" was my favorite thing ever; in spite of this, I never had the urge to listen to anything else by Rockwell.

Having Michael Jackson Senior hook is pretty top notch. During this time the best thing on Motown records was definitely Rick James. I think he actually saved the label. He's Rick James, b****.

In case you were wondering what blocked this from #1: "Jump" by Van Halen for one week, followed by "Footloose" by Kenny Loggins for two. 1984 was kinda stacked.

So, all the problems with the rap same existed in the motown days? Imagine my shock. If only there was some sort of commonality between the two….

I cannot be the only one who basically only ever heard the hook to this song for years and just assumed this was actually a Michael Jackson song

Fun fact: I first discovered this song from a motion-activated black cat Halloween decoration my family bought around 2000. It would play clips of this song and move it's head, arch it's back, and always ended the clip with a very low-fidelity "REEEEEOOW!" That cat decoration still functions to this day, and I adore it.
I also grew up assuming this was a Michael Jackson song, then was told it wasn't and believed that for about 10 years, and finally saw this video when it came out years ago and found out the truth. Thank you for finally settling the decades-long confusion!

10:47 I'm surprised to learn that he sang "Knife". This song is massive in the Philippines (I checked out a lyric video and it appears to be massive in some parts of Southeast Asia as well). The song sounds like a 70's easy-listening ballad so I never thought it came from an 80's pop artist. Interesting how some mid songs in another part of the world can be massive somewhere else
