Actually in Spain we have a typical expression that is "te han colado gato por liebre" that mean they put u cat instead of rabbit, because after civil war people often ate the cats, chop off the head and tell to the families that was rabbit, because people had no access to food, and they said that the flavor and texture is almost the same. (This typical expression means, when someone tells u a lie and u belive It)

I don’t know what part of the world you hail from but I love how differently we learned to pronounce Latin names (suffixes -dae, -nae, some prefixes, etc)
I’ve learned different ways to pronounce the same thing at my undergrad v grad program so I’m always interested in how people say them differently!!

Something I’m really curious about is the distinction between “true cats” and “false cats”.
It seems to be based completely in genetics and body structure, and not in the niche they occupy in the ecosystem. And scientifically, these distinctions in genetics obviously are much more prominent.
But for me, someone who is not familiar with genetics, they’re just all cat-like species that occupy similar niches in their given ecosystem, even though they are not related to each other (is that called “convergent evolution”?)
If someone wants to point out why these distinctions could be important outside of the “scientific community” please let me know!

Anyone else ever start watching a video and realize you just don't have the attention span right now and should watch the video later, but then feel really guilty about leaving the video halfwatched. I genuinely hope adding to watch later and coming back to the video helps the mobilization

What I wonder about the nimravids is why they went extinct only for the "true cats" to converge on similar body plans. Whatever the case, nice episode, and very respectful of their essential cat-ness.
