Green was chosen to minimize keying out human skin tones, which are reddish. So would the Vulcans use red screen instead since they have green blood???

I was under the impression that The Big Bang Theory episode with the characters in Star Trek uniforms posing at Vasquez Rocks was not actually done with a green screen but with a large backdrop or cyclorama. It sure looks that way.

This is probably why many productions have simply stopped using green screens and simply have overworked vfx artists keying out everything manually
