    I have never bought a piece of Behringer gear. They always seemed like cheap imitations, though I know they have great stuff in their own right. But like you said of your listeners, I don't buy Behringer because I don't want to feel like a dick. They just seem smarmy. If their marketing people need to do anything, it's to put any originality front and center. Because everything they do seems like a copy of someone else's ingenuity.

    So disgusting to use disadvantaged children as publicity and to not even follow through. I'm sure it wouldn't break Uli's bank to donate 1,000 synths.
    Now he's pretending he already donated them?
    How toxic.

    Meanwhile I would love to give a shout-out to Makala brand ukuleles who gave me 52 beautiful and amazing sounding ukes when I only asked for five for a project with some at-risk kids. With literal dozens of ukes, were able to give them all out to multiple schools and directly to individual kids and it has really made a difference! Makala is amazing, and let me be honest: the ukes are some of the best sounding I've ever heard!

    Why is it that, when some companies get large and become publicly owned, they're able to retain their integrity, whilst others become predatory?

    So we are going to focus on a gear company's ethics,when HUNDREDS of companies have done HORRIBLE things to cause the death,sickness,and blatant disrespect for groups/races?I know for sure there was some ethic issues with examples like Linn and his MPC comments,etc,etc.No one cares about that and many others,just Behringer because they make low priced ,so called clones,and take the purist mystery from expensive,dusty synths..Got it..Yeah,to me,everyone must be accountable,not just whom we choose to focus on,no matter who it is..

    Benn, thanks for not only bringing Behringer’s behavior to my attention but doing it in such a thoughtful, nuanced way.

    After a year of covid lockdown I’d forgotten what thoughtfulness and nuance even looked like. Watching the first vid I regretted my TD-3 and considered burning it in protest and sending you footage. Of course there’s a problem. The damn TD-3 sounds great and replacing it would cost a lot. Also laws are kind of a thing where I live. Nuance to the rescue! My guilt assuaged! Somewhat!

    You know, I was feeling a little uncomfortable with the large amount of Behringer gear I own. I was kind of o.k. with owning things like the Wasp since it was from a company that is out of business and the product hasn't been available for many years. It also seemed o.k. to own something like the RD8 since we, the users have been telling Roland for years and years that we wanted to see a reissue of an analog 808 and 303. They've told us for years that they know better than we do what we want, and gave us digital copies which were o.k., but not what many were asking for. Then there are the pedals which are clones of discontinued models which are super pricey. That still seems kind of o.k. Then there are clones of things that are still currently in production. Your previous video seemed to help me reach a tipping point, however. Last night, I decided which of my Behringer pedals I wouldn't miss, and those went on Reverb. The ones I would miss went on Reverb too, but I purchased replacements from the original manufacturers. Today, I'm weighing out a tougher issue: I have a lot of Behringer synths (6). The only one I really love is the model D. So, I'm thinking of ditching all of them and maybe getting a Matriarch instead. Your video has really inspired me to examine my purchasing habits, and I really have some regrets. It will take me a while to resolve all of this, but I think I will be happier for it moving forward. Thanks for inspiring me to make a change for the better.

    This entire thread of action shows so much care and thoughtfulness. Thanks Benn for calling attention to dubious behavior and still creating space for positive solutions. Behringer is the affordable entry level for us ignorant novices. I would love for them to land on the right side – you can only open the door though.

    I've watched both your videos about this topic and liked them both. The only thing that looks weird is that you're offering product placement to Behringer and you only have 59k subs. Add one more, I just subscribed myself. But, aren't you too small for behringer? Or at least too small to offer product placement? In any case, I like your confidence. (I know this may sound like I'm being a troll but I think I'm not)

    You’re right..It’s ok to say “I’m right, and they’re wrong”. It’s not a political statement, it’s just a fact.
    I’ve dealt with them over the years in various capacities, and Behringer is an absolute nightmare.
    I’d say more, but I have to protect the children.

    the only piece of behringer equipment i ever experiences was a mixer. made the audio sound great but it died on me withing a fckn month so ye.. never again

    Salty. Maybe the kids outside of Chicago are more "less fortunate". But luckily you have an all american synth company Moog, surely they will donate synths to your cause.

    You are discussing an organization that has made a career of social controversy. From the earliest lawsuits over patent infringement to their long list of disenfranchised former employees, I have assiuduouly avoided their products since the 90's.

    Is there an affordable alternative to Behringer products? Specifically I'm looking to buy a midi keyboard/synth and maybe a mixing board. I'd rather not buy from an antisemitic company…

    Please do not indulge this company. The leadership is horrific. A small donation does not come close to compensating for the vile stuff they have pulled. No way am I ever buying a Behringer product. Disgusting behavior.

    I own Behringer kit from synths to a mixing board. They have a niche that was ignored. Having said that if you promise to give away 1000 pieces of equipment your purchasers paid for that. You said it, do it. But, it makes more sense to give them to educational groups so they can be shared by more than a thousand. It’s really about exposure to not only brand but more importantly the art behind it and the fun you can have being creative.

    Honestly, at this stage, the musician forums around the world should unite and classify the names of Behringer and his other brands, as a slander word and have every post or thread of them removed. Leading to their name to be in the need of heavy mods like B@h/nger or "Kl@rk Techn&k", for a post or thread to be created.

    This would make the peoples think about what is going on and it would definitely come back as a shitstorm.

    I've always liked your videos (actually that's how I got into modular synth), and since your post about vinyl, I started seeing a genuine side of you which I respect a lot (unfortunately, discussions about environmental ethics are very scarce in the music world)…but this video in particular made me love you and appreciate you so much! need more of you on YouTube…and planet! ❤️

    I'm getting the sense from comments that some people feel like their Behringer gear is almost tainted now, and some people are even talking about getting rid of it. I get that Behringer have been really shitty recently, but I don't really understand that attitude. Are those same people going to get rid of their smartphones and laptops, because they contain rare metals mined in terrible work conditions in Congo? Are they getting rid of all their clothes that were probably made in sweatshops? I'm not trying to downplay how crap Behringer have been at all, it's just that I don't understand why people would feel so strongly about it that they would get rid of their Behringer gear, but feel comfortable continuing to own various items and appliances that they know full well were created by far worse companies than Behringer, under far worse conditions. Why do people seem to feel more strongly about the theft of intellectual property and shitty behaviour on social media than they do about human rights violations and slave labour? Is it because people feel such an emotional connection to their musical instruments?

    Don't get me wrong, this stuff has definitely put me off behringer and I'll probably consider other brands over them in the future, but I still love my Deepmind and Td-3, and I dont feel that they're any more tainted than my smartphone is.

    0:59 as much as i really love what you're doing, i disagree with this one. you both already started a public argument. since you made a youtube video on them, it's actually their responsibility to defend themselves publicly. being like "oh we already sorted everything out in private" is pretty suspicious in these cases. however i think they should've just addressed you and your points directly without acting in a super safe corporate way. pretty ironic considering their earlier pr "stunts".
