Like you used to do, was Josh Homme wanting to make something happy. After their last album he was depressed and almost died/went into a small coma and wanted something less dark.

Holy shit, your channel is awesome man, nice work, subscribed! Btw I honestly share the same opinion as you on the "The Way You Used to Do" single, biggest meh for me, unfortunately. Don't really see nothing new in this "bluesy swingy garage rock" kinda vibe, and the greatest part in qotsa for me was innovation. The guitar riffs are basically ZZ Top but a little more dissonant and electric. Almost lazy, in my opinion. I know it's bad to keep comparing this album with the past others, but literally wtf is "Turnin' On the Screw"? The first time I listened to it my jaw dropped in the "WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS DUMB RIFF THIS AND WHY AM I JAMMING SO HARD???" kinda sense, there was clearly the effort for *something new*. Josh's paws are blurry in this work, or he just changed his taste. Though I don't know if you have heard the entire album, I will say that most (like half of them but I'm still trying) songs eventually grew on me which is really cool, as I was really disappointed after I heard it for the first couple of times. Could be also a unconscious self-defense move from my brain since I would be fucking orphan without Queens, but oh well, I'm glad it happened. Anyways, keep it up man 🙂

A Queens documentary would be cool, as not much exists on the history of the band and the recording process, as they tend to be rather secretive, but the desert rock thing has already been done twice with Desert Age and Lo Sound Desert.

Nice review man! Totally appreciate the detail you go into. I've listened to this song probably upwards of 15-20 times, and it reeeeally grows on you. Agree 100% on your opinions of Kalopsia, I'm Designer, etc… Would be awesome to see that QotSA or Palm Desert documentary too!

Yeah, queens documentary would be cool, but i would also like to see a queens review of every album they have done (you could sneak in documentary info within the reviews). I noticed every time a new queens album comes up, people always say that its not as good as its old stuff, but thats the thing with queens, every album they put out, they shake you up and get you to see things from another perspective. This is why I like queens, they just dont repeat themselves, and thats experimental. I really like the two songs off the Villians album so far, and cant wait to hear the rest.
