DISCONNECTED with Jaiden Animations, Ellen Rose and Hank Green

Tom Scott | September 2, 2025

I invited Jaiden, Ellen and Hank to play a trivia quiz! The sort of quiz where you can get away with wrong answers… if nobody spots them. And since they couldn’t be there in person, I’ve got a massive virtual set. Too many wrong answers, and our players will be Disconnected.

AD: White Light provided the SmartStage studio facilities and crew! You can find out more about their technology here: https://tinyurl.com/y7dxo2gz

And disguise connected up all the (virtual) moving parts! Learn more about the latest disguise xR solution: https://web.disguise.one/xrtech

A brand new game show series! Four episodes, one a week. Players' channels are in the description and cards, and two companies gave studio time, software and crew for free to make it happen: pull down the description for more. (Oh, and in the final round, when I say "I can't see the list"? That's because I only get to see it once someone's challenged!)

The ufc and Holloway are misconstruing hard core facts and not trying to have the real truth come out. Their doing to much influence we warned them about this. Their in denial about all the orders they been giving over the years people admitted about the victory lap routines they told we have proof @khon2 @cnn @msnbc the guys a fraud the ufc and Holloway are lying to people and having people lie @nobelpeaceprize this matters 🌏🌎🌍👏

Dewberries are like blackberries, but look matte instead of polished and taste sweeter and less sour.
The last sentence becomes very confusing if translated in Bulgarian, where both are called Къпини.

Oww, I was suddenly getting a video about '7 spiritual successors (…)' on my Youtube homepage, and couldn't tell why.
Turns out Youtube knew (somehow) I was going to watch this video (which has been sitting in my 'watch later' for literally 3 years), and that video is the most recent video from the channel advertised in the last 20 seconds here.
Man, Youtube really knows everything about you.

The hottest planet is kind of a famous one.

The cool thing is, no pun intended, Mercury is gravity locked (I don’t know if there is a more scientific term for it in English). So it’s kind of like the Moon, it orbits the Sun (or the Earth in the case of the Moon) at the same rate that it rotates around it axis. The result of that is the same side is constantly exposed to the Sun. And just like the Moon has a hidden side, Mercury has a side that’s constantly in the dark, making it… not that hot on average.

I like the concept, though I feel like it would be cooler if signal bars were a little harder to lose.

What I think would work best is for a challenge to count, it required the challenger to actually give the correct answer themselves, with the risk of losing a signal bar if they’re wrong. They might even be able to heal up/steal from the opponent in case of a successful challenge.
Similarly, to have both opponents lose a signal bar, sneaking a wrong answer past them should only count if you did indeed know the correct answer and deliberately lied. This can be proven by giving the right answer afterwards.

I might not necessarily require easier question, as long as we keep them specific enough for anyone to have a chance to know the answers at some point.

Jaiden is showing exactly what is wrong with women's expectations. Her guess for the average height was 6ft. Seriously? You think most people in the US and in the world are that tall?

Tom: An eighth of a mile
Me: A mile is about 1.6 kilometers, so we're looking at 200 meters here. Tough one, I wouldn't know.
    Hank: A decimeter.
Me: Okay. He has no clue what that is. 😂
