   I'm late to the party, but I find this video perspicacious as always, which is a lot.

   I don't have a problem with the idea of being an SJW. The term could apply to me, though I think "warrior" is a wee tad pompous. I've been inspired by your pronunciation to call myself an Essa Jew and see if it works.

   I do have a serious problem with how some on the left have been attacking freedom of speech on university campuses. If there's any place where troubling speech must be protected, it's there. Harvey Silverglate, who is liberal and opposed the Vietnam war, and who has been an important friend to me, has an organization called FIRE to defend free speech at universities. They are staunchly non-partisan They recently defended someone ordered to remove a Black Lives Matter banner, but they most often defend right-wingers because currently, they are more often censored.

   Furthermore, the Teabaggers and populists have some valid, serious points that deserve to be addressed without mockery. It is fun to mock, but it can be extremely counterproductive.

   I do not know that Trump's victory can be attributed to this. Clinton's lack of charisma and extremely poor delivery of the excellent prose her writers provided and lack of a Senate record that could inspire anybody certainly played a role. But it is not politic simply to ridicule a huge segment of the population that feels disenfranchised, even or perhaps especially if you think they are wrong.

   The Hillary email scandal played a huge part in a lot of military people not voting for her, but for military personal that would have voted for a Dem had it not been Hilary with that scandal hanging over her head they from my informal survey didn't vote for Trump either.

   I despise Trump, and his followers. To me they are the closest thing to the Devil and demons that exist in the world. I also am well sick of the far left, but at least they are redeemable.

   we has the same thing here in France during the last election a far-right candidate made it to the second round of elections because the voters cast a protest vote. But I have a little trouble with that. Risk electing a far right president "just" to protest. I have a little trouble seeing how that would help in any way.

   Extremely indirectly. They were a distraction, ironically so that the Clown could take over the whole Rodeo. What had happened was that Occupy Wallstreet supported Bernie Sanders, while the Establishment Democrats backed Clinton. However, once the Primary was over, they continued fighting, as if that would change the primary, after it had already been decided. (By the Democratic National Committee.) This gaslighting, and insulting went on for months, and divided the opposition, while the Republicans rallied around their candidate. So, if you chose to represent Occupy Wall-Street, and capitalist-socialists as "SJWs" then yes. They distracted the Democrats while the Republicans rallied behind Goldfinger. However, the Republicans rallied behind their candidate, and lost. So, that Power Vaccuum in the Opposition party is somewhat responsible for letting them win, but it wasn't even close to the most significant factor, and the Established Democrats literally lost the election on their own.

    Us Britishers who were following the US elections were getting nervous for you all weeks before the result was announced. Why? One word: Brexit.
    I don't think any of us really believed the Leave vote would win – until it actually happened. It happened because too many people in the UK wanted to feel like they had at least SOME power to 'stick it to the man,' i.e. take those smug, smart-ass MPs down a peg or two and show them they WEREN'T the all-powerful gods they thought they were. Most of those who voted Leave had NO CLUE how leaving the EU would change the laws, trade agreements and border regulations for the UK, and in turn how that would affect the UK economy, employment prospects and standard of living for the majority of its citizens. The simply decided that 'different' would automatically mean 'better.' (If I had a pound for the number of people I heard say that leaving the EU would "stop all these illegal immigrants coming in." Like… why? Because now they'd be even more illegal than they were before? You know what 'illegal' means, right, guys?) These are the same people who are now angry/baffled as to why we're STILL trying to thrash out a deal that doesn't screw over the entire British economy some THREE YEARS LATER.
    But yeah, that's why we were worried about the prospect of Trump actually winning before you were. We'd already been through a public 'Screw Yer Authoritai!' vote six months prior, and the sense of deja vu was hard to dismiss.

    I mostly liberal and this honestly played a big factor for me supporting Trump. I have how sensitive people are these days and Hillary just seemed a little too fake for me.

    i'm not from the USA but i'm convinced trump won because the flaw in the political system that is the electoral college, i'm not saying that direct democracy is objectively better but for a country as diversly populated it may be more fair and equal than to lump together by state given the historical divides like north-south

    Unfortunately, I saw it coming in 2015. For two years I publicly begged people to get out and vote. Ultimately, there is no one reason the occupant was installed in the White House.

    Trump got roughly the same number of votes as Romney (although I will state this is something I read shortly after the election), that alone proves it had nothing to do with the ess-jews. If one is arguing about why he won the nomination, well I would argue it's because the republican base is racist.

    I rather refer to myself as a "Social Injustice Resister" if we are going to play the label game. And I mean that on both sides of the spectrum. A lot of those Neo-Liberals (not to be confused with classical liberals) never had to deal with anything else outside their own gentrified world. As soon as I say the words "everyone is racist at some point", well some of them just start going off like they are entitled to victory in an argument when they fail to realize that the whole point of arguing is to get your point across. These people are little kids and should learn to at least have some respect for elder status and call some people SIR. They're going to learn, either one way or another, they will learn.

    I've been watching a number of your videos since YouTube's algorithms put you on my front page. I really appreciate what you're trying to do – talking about contentious issues in a less inflammatory way that doesn't demonize people who disagree with you. We need a lot more of that!

    Before I write more, I'll throw this out there: I didn't vote in this election. In fact, I haven't ever voted in any election – local, state, federal or anything – even though I did serve a tour as a United States Marine. When it comes to local elections, I've never lived in one particular area long enough to want to get invested and knowledgeable enough about the local politics to show up to a poll. Federally, I think it's disconcerting how much emphasis people place on who is the President of the United States, because the amount of power the President can wield is vastly over exaggerated, the real bad actors are all government leeches who've been appointed and sit around for decades doing terrible shit (think Rumsfeld, think Cheney, there's another particularly egregious guy but I can't recall his name for the life of me at the moment)… and in the elections I've been old enough to vote in, none of the candidates seemed stellar.

    Anyway, I agree with you when you say that the reasons Trump got elected were complicated. However, describing the idea of voting in Trump because people are tired of "SJWs" or "PC Culture" (whether or not that exists – which I'll address in a bit) as an overreaction misses the point a bit, I think. The fact enough people are saying this that even you acknowledge there's some merit to the idea that this played a big role in the election – whether or not Trump is "qualified" to be the President – points to some underlying issues that aren't being addressed, respected or understood in this type of a conversation.

    Political discourse has been deteriorating for a long time. Additionally, a multitude of factors have combined to create a sort of carte blanche licence to completely dismiss (primarily) white men in any remotely controversial discussion of issues in our time. There are a lot of ideas that get thrown out there which people basically use as tools to either bludgeon white men or silence them – several of the "big" ones would include concepts like "white privilege," "mansplaining," and "the patriarchy." Now, I want to be clear – I'm not at all accusing you of using these terms, supporting these terms, or otherwise doing what I'm about to describe, but I am explaining that this has been a very common experience for the "white male" for the past decade or more. (I started hearing and learning about these terms about 15 years ago, when I was in high school.)

    I agree with you that we should be able to discuss ideas openly – and therein lies the problem. In many areas of life, white men AREN'T allowed to openly discuss ideas, because the confluence of all of these aforementioned concepts causes most people to dismiss our perspective out of hand. We're told we couldn't possibly understand what it's like to be anything other than what we are and so therefore we aren't allowed to have an opinion on something that doesn't directly impact us. As it turns out, there aren't a lot of issues you can talk about today where our identity doesn't somehow disqualify us from the public discourse. We can't talk about abortion because we aren't women, we can't talk about social justice because we're the privileged majority, etc.

    And this isn't just happening on social media, or on the internet. I was learning about this type of stuff in school, and I've heard about even teachers or professors reinforcing this idea that someone's identity trumps their argument. (I was fortunate enough to avoid this in high school with the teachers I had, and then I was out of classrooms for a while serving in the military, and when I did get back into school, most of my schooling was not typical of the average university or college class.)

    So while it may seem like an overreaction to you that anger with SJWs or PC Culture results in the election of someone like Trump, the issue is a bit different than that. White men are tired of being casually dismissed out of hand simply for being white men. We could get into a discussion here about how "whiteness is default" and "maleness is default" and "history is the story of white men" and on and on, but applying what happens in aggregate to a conversation with an individual isn't a great recipe, especially not in the indelicate and attacking way that it's often done. White men are expected to empathize with and understand the struggles of women and minorities, but there is no reciprocal understanding of any struggle white men might be facing. Even the idea that white men struggle, or could struggle, or could have any sort of valid complaint is anathema to some.

    This is my biggest issue with identity politics. I've been majorly interested in philosophy from a young age, especially philosophy of truth and whether there is such a thing as an absolute truth (which led me down a ten year rabbit hole exploring all sorts of Christian churches). The way identity politics is often practiced by lay people is to have someone's identity be, if not the only thing that matters in any given conversation, than at least certainly more important than whatever argument might be made. I want to be able to discuss facts and arguments, yet somehow because I'm a white male, I am repeatedly told my argument is wrong or I just can't possibly understand. (And I do have some formal education in logic, not to mention experience competing in CX Debate in high school at the national level – so I do actually know a thing or two about how to construct an argument, what fallacies are, etc).

    Anyway, I doubt you or anyone else will respond to this comment given how long it is and that I'm posting it to a video that's coming up on being two years old, but I felt compelled to write this all out anyway. Even if I don't agree with everything you've said in your videos, I do really appreciate the effort you're making in discussing controversial things without demonizing those that disagree with you.
