What is k in a "k-truncated n-simplex"?

So the "face ratio" is the ratio between the diagonal of a rectangular face and its longer side, and Ray plots the face ratios of rectangles that share a vertex on the 3d projection of the n-dimensional cuboctahedron (which is possible because any two such rectangles on a given distorted 3d cuboctahedron always have different face ratios and only two possible face ratios?)

None of this stuff was in my C.S.E. Math exam here in Bristol , England back in the 1980's !

Is there an 8-dimensional "engine" behind our universe? Join Marion Kerr on a fun, visually exciting journey as she explores a mysterious, highly complex structure known simply as 'E8'–a weird, 8-dimensional object that for some, strange reason, appears to encode within it all of the particles and forces of our 3-dimensional universe.
