At the time of making this video, Dust on the Wind by The Velvet Sundown is the most viral song on Spotify in the UK, but how did this generic AI band end up so popular?

Why has this happened???
Because they just did it, and "they" the profit thirsty music moguls, will keep doing it, till we do what we always do…we accept it, so it becomes the norm.
If we don't SERIOUSLY FIGHT AGAINST IT NOW!
We will drown in musically tuned polished turds.

I will never advance technically to the point where I use AI when recording, writing or creating!
AI has no place in the world of music creation, recording, sound creation, lyrics writing and fucking soldering new parts on an amp!
The reason music creation (Hard Rock with a hint of Abba to Zappa) is such a passion for me is that, as a musician and writer, I'm creating my music by playing my instruments, yes I use computer software, Reason 10 and Logic and a reel reel to recorder, but I record each part from start to finish, not record a couple of bars then cut and paste! Recording from start to finish allows for dynamics, light and shade, nuances, those happy accidents and FEEL!
This is the whole point and fun of recording, stick a mic in the sink while recording acoustic guitar!!! You are creating the ambiance! Smash a bottle with a really crap mic above it!
Wow, this room sounds weird, let's do the vocal in here!
It's this kind of process that defines a musician/writer! And makes it FUN!!!
There's AI software out there that can make someone who can't sing or play sound like Pavarotti or Saint Eddie Van!
And quite frankly, it's turning people into lazy, soulless musical cheats!
So the answer is easy, you can either earn loyalty and respect from learning and practicing your craft, and playing and recording your music with heart, soul, passion, emotion, aggression and FEEL!
OR…
Let Artificial Intelligence create something for you! So you can say "yeah, well I wrote this the other day…"

The reason they gained popularity is because of people like you and every other YouTube clown barking about them. if no one mentioned them they would never have gained peoples curiosity and like their song would have been just dust on the wind.

My ear says Prince was NEVER a “funk” artist. The only funky Prince cut I have EVER heard is “Live For Love” (great song and guitar solo at end. This song actually had a FUNK BEAT).
He was an amazing musician, guitarist, POP icon. But NEVER a FUNK musician. What do people think FUNK is anyway?? I’m a White guy who LOVES funk music. The Bee Gees were funkier than Prince.

The songs listed under the artist Royal Blue Notes are clearly AI generated content intended to mimic the voice and playing style of the late BB King, as well as other blues artists. This AI generated content also appears on YouTube.
FYI: I only discovered this after watching this @davidhartley94 video. David made me question why I had lately been hearing unknown artists that sounded a lot like artist that I know in love from years past. I began looking up on the internet information on these artists and Royal Blue Notes was only my third inquiry into a suspect artist, the other 2 appear legit. So I'm seeing a failure rate of 33% for suspicious previously unknown artist on Spotify.
Thank you, David, for opening my eyes to this highly unethical and deceptive practice on Spotify and also on YouTube.

spotify knows perfectly how to boost this AI stuff so every play done on them is a play hijacked from another organic artist, to which they should pay a royalty. the result is stupidly easy to understand: move royalties from human artist towards themself

A.I. generated "art" will suffer the same fate than woke ideology, eventually it will fail and drag everything associated with it down.

I don't think the masses were tricked. I think they made it to the top because they are a novelty and people were curious.
Those same people will return to their favourite human artists.
AI music will become a genre in the same way over-produced fake pop is now.
There will always be a place for music created by humans with heart and an authentic vision. AI will fill a space and attract a fan base not even occupied by people who are actually into authentic music.

"how did this totally generic sounding band get over a million monthly listeners?"
well because people have no taste in music. AI is the next evolution in generic slop music for the masses

It genuinely sounds horrible, i can tell this is AI from a mile away and it’s really frustrating that it took so many people to tell this is.
I can think of so many artists and list them all that have this sound and are so passionate and sound great. Everything by it sounds super distorted.

people will think they own a "sound" when they don't. If this was the case everyone would be suing everyone, which they already do because artists are so vain they think their first at anything and everything. You probably think this song is about you speaks about artists to a T. They don't sounds, they don't own voices, they don't own styles. AI is a rebellion against the Narcissistic and Vain. Anything that gives power to anyone else the elite will always be against. AI levels the playing field.

The question we gotta ask is how did this song get number 1 out of nowhere?
