I haven’t had Krispy Kreme since 2021 but before that it must’ve been 10 years since I had their donuts.. I noticed the last time I had it in 2021 it tasted way different.. like they changed their recipe and it was no where near as good as it was over a decade ago.. did anyone else notice a difference in the taste and if they changed their recipe??

You can tell you have never been to a factory store. While you wait in line they walk around with a stick full of doughnuts hot out of the oil. Free! They melt in your mouth. There is nothing like it. So no it wasn't a gimmick. You went to get the freshest donut 🍩 possible. Not to look at the machine. Sure once. This podcast is ticking me off. Krispy Kreeme – no substitute. If you microwave the store bought glazed for 10 seconds, then you can sort of recreate the orgasmic experience of the donut 🍩☕

At my local Kroger they have their own store doughnut brand.
Those cost a dollar while Krispy Kreme costs more then double that despite being smaller in size to the store made ones.

I dont think I would go regularly. But they just arent close enough. Its not really worth dealing with the traffic to get to their locations.

I really love donuts but I couldn't make it a consistent thing.

I grew up next to the founders wife, there was always a Krispy Kreme truck in her driveway every Halloween and I'd get a dozen or so at the end of the night. How I wasn't a 300 lb fat kid I do not know, I ate soooo many doughnuts as a kid. I'm so glad she isn't around to see what has happened to Krispy Kreme today!!!!

Sorry WSM, this was another miss…KK fell because they expanded beyond their core base (it's literally on the chart). Casual KK fans know their donuts are only really good for maybe 24 hours and is a luxury. Had they not opened as many stores they'd still be making profit.

Am I understanding correctly, consumers were saturated, and so they responded by adding different forms of saturation?

They should have downsized and also started focusing on making good beverages, more of a boutique experience. The donuts are good (Dunkin’s are 👎) even the best independent donut shops don’t have good coffee in my experience.

I wondered why the KK's in the supermarket looked so much worse than the ones in store. It makes sense they're end of daily production leftovers which have been on the shelf for a few days. Yet the price isn't cheaper.
