Indigo De Souza Announces New Album Precipice and Drops Whimsical Single “Heartthrob”
Indigo De Souza is back and ready to shake things up with the announcement of her upcoming album, Precipice, set to release on July 25. Marking her debut with Loma Vista Recordings, this new project comes hot on the heels of her critically acclaimed 2023 LP, All of This Will End.
Today, De Souza unveiled the LP’s lead single “Heartthrob,” a bubbly track that channels both nostalgia and joy, paired with an equally playful music video directed by Neta Ben Ezra. In the visual, De Souza pops from one whimsical scene to another, bouncing around a vibrant inflatable castle and causing delightful chaos at a stuffy garden party. It’s an enchanting blend that highlights her knack for blending the serious with the absurd.
In crafting Precipice, De Souza collaborated with producer Elliott Kozel in Los Angeles, where she thrived creatively. “Elliott is really good at allowing space for songs to reveal themselves,” she shared in a recent statement. “I felt very seen and respected both musically and personally.” The intimacy of this partnership is clear, as De Souza explores personal themes through an upbeat lens.
Set against a backdrop of resilience, the album reflects on De Souza’s experiences following the devastation of Hurricane Helene in 2024, which flooded her home and left her belongings in ruins. “I feel constantly on the precipice of something horrible or something beautiful—something that will change my life for better or for worse,” she articulated. “I wanted to make music that could fill your heart with euphoria while you dance along.”
Alongside the album announcement, De Souza also revealed plans for a summer and autumn tour featuring a mix of solo shows as well as dates with indie rock favorites Lord Huron. She’ll also grace the stages of the esteemed Pitchfork Music Festival Paris in November, where fans can expect an electrifying performance showcasing tracks from Precipice.
