Native Bidaské with Congressional Candidate Mercedes Krause
During October, as the midterms elections approach, Native News Online is devoting four Native Bidaské episodes to feature Native Americans who are running for office. This week’s guest will be Mercedes Krause, who is the Democratic nominee for Nevada’s 2nd Congressional District.
Krause, a mother of three, is also an educator and union activist. A proud dual-citizen of the Oglala Sioux Tribe, she was born and raised in Nevada, where she has continuously stood up with community members working to make a more just and equitable Nevada. Krause currently serves the state in several capacities: as a commissioner on the Nevada Minority Affairs Commission (Education Committee Co-chair), co-founder of Indigenous Educators Empowerment which serves Indigenous educators, educators, and students in Nevada,
