Band Collaborates with Red Cross for Blood Drive Event

Metallica Teams Up with Red Cross for Summer Blood Drive: Rock Your Way to Saving Lives

In a move that blends rock ‘n’ roll with philanthropy, Metallica is set to elevate their M72 World Tour with a powerful initiative: a blood drive in collaboration with the American Red Cross. Fans attending select concerts this spring and summer will have the chance to make a lifesaving impact by donating blood in exchange for exclusive, limited-edition merchandise.

On Monday, the iconic metal band announced this unique partnership through their All Within My Hands foundation, reminding everyone that the legendary frontmen, James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich, may not be vampires, but they do have a thirst for something vital—your blood. These altruistic efforts come just in time for a series of highly anticipated concert stops, including major cities like Nashville, Arlington, Denver, Houston, Atlanta, and Santa Clara, California.

"The Red Cross is incredibly appreciative that Metallica is helping fuel the blood supply this summer," said Darren Irby, an executive at the Red Cross, in a recent press release. "The band and their foundation are committed to making every tour stop a better place, and this selfless act of rallying fans to donate blood will leave a lifesaving legacy to so many communities."

Fans can donate their blood, as the M72 crew builds the stage the day before the band’s performances. This innovative approach not only engages the Metallica fanbase but also directly supports trauma victims, cancer patients, individuals living with sickle cell disease, and new mothers—essentially turning the pre-concert hustle into a community healing event.

As Metallica gears up for their U.S. tour, kicking off with a show in Las Vegas at Sick New World on April 12, this initiative shines a light on the band’s commitment to social responsibility. Joining them during their stadium trek will be an impressive lineup of openers, including Pantera, Suicidal Tendencies, Ice Nine Kills, and Limp Bizkit—ensuring that the tour promises not only musical thrills but also a sense of shared purpose among fans.
