How I Play Music as a Perfectionist

92.9 The Torch | January 16, 2025

Is it possible to create a perfect piece of music? Is it possible for a performance to be perfect?

Perfection is a problem for many musicians, especially those learning an instrument. In this short video, I explore some ideas which relate to perfectionism for musicians. As well as exploring what it means for something to be good, bad or perfect.

The quote, ‘perfection is lots of little things done well’ is something I stole from Marco Pierre White. He used it to talk about creating dishes, but I think the idea is also very applicable to music.
