I saw them in 2018 for the Fever To Tell 15th anniversary shows (actually got my ticket for free, thanks Q101!), and it was an absolutely incredible performance. KO was thoroughly testing the durability of her SM58; by the end of the set, she was just whipping it by the cable directly into the Aragon Ballroom stage.

A late 70s, early 80s band that helped define the "New Wave" movement which gave birth to so many modern bands, by combining Punk, Pop, Synth, and even some Bluegrass and Folk music. Coming to the YYYs late, but maybe that's a good thing as I'm far more open to their eclecticism now than I was when I had more testosterone coursing thru my body. The acoustic numbers and Karen's tender vocals are really heartchilling & spinewrenching, just as satisfying as their signature punky blowouts, which would have been all I was interested in once upon a time. They haven't recorded a single duff album, not even 'Mosquito' which gets a bum rap, yet the more you listen to it, the less dismissible it is. 'It's Blitz' & 'Show Your Bones' are better than 'Fever To Tell' IMO. You know they're good because they sailed thru 2nd & 3rd Album Syndrome, despite the tensions between Karen & Nick laid out here.
