Canadian here. The best way to tell if a proposal is for the people is to look at how much money is being spent by the big tech and billionaires to have you vote against it. The more money they’re spending to defeat it, the more that proposal is aimed for the good of the people.

The fact that we're under surveillance 100% of the time, and that isn't, on it's own, causing an extreme protest/uproar/rebellion shows that we've strayed so far from our founding father's vision, and we've given up our rights in exchange for convenience. If you are worried about voting in person, you can still walk up to the post office window, or even better use a ballot drop box like the ones at the library. They pick up several times a week and bring the ballots directly to the polls avoiding the post office altogether if you are worried about their BS too – Hope this helps
