The Worst Possible US Disaster Is Now Looking Even Worse

Fexl | October 21, 2026

For decades, seismologists treated the Cascadia Subduction Zone as a single, uniform fault ticking toward a magnitude 9.0 mega-thrust disaster. In 2024, deep active-source acoustic imaging beneath the Pacific Ocean shattered that model.

High-resolution surveys revealed that the fault is actually broken into four distinct tectonic segments, with the northern slab off Washington lying unexpectedly flat, smooth, and wide. That geometry pulls the locked megathrust zone significantly closer to major inland cities like Seattle, Tacoma, and Vancouver, drastically compressing tsunami arrival times and threatening minutes of deep-basin resonance and widespread soil liquefaction. Here is how newly mapped fractures deep in the ocean floor fundamentally altered the survival mathematics of North America’s greatest natural hazard.

Those “safe” towers are supposed to help people?? What happens once the waters rush in and strand them?? How long before they’re rescued?? From bathroom needs to food, water, and first aid, I didn’t see any emergency supplies! 😢

The breakdown of the strange changes happening deep beneath Earth's core at [03:40] was genuinely gripping and suspenseful, creator! The engaging scientific narration combined with vivid illustrations keeps viewers glued to the screen. Quality knowledge-packed content with such high awareness value is truly worth watching. Looking forward to more captivating space and earth exploration videos like this.

I recently watched a documentary on this topic and the emergency responses that have been devised and was shocked when they predicted 40,000 dead. I said it there and I'll say it here: that's wildly optimistic.

There's an even bigger but mostly hidden problem Lurking on the horizon regarding building infrastructure in places that are vulnerable to Earth movements and the hidden problems are twofold seemingly, and, an earthquake watch YT channel has been monitoring the relationship between fracking oil drilling everywhere causing potential forest fires [methane buildup an/or seepage to the surface ] as well as polluting fresh underground water supplies of aquifers.

The other hidden but potential problem is all the underground mining operations over centuries honeycombing landscapes almost everywhere have created the problem of sinkholes opening up from collapsing or collapsed former mines [collapsing Coal mines seem to be the major ones] that were never filled in – and that's in addition to building on substrate soils that are not ideal to build infrastructure on top because certain types of soil can be undermined and or weakened over time by water erosion and seepage.🙃
