Horrors Streamed in Zoom Meetings

My short story: https://www.reddit.com/r/nosleep/s/6U37k7hzFD

There was a time when the platform Zoom facilitated most of our social interaction on basically every level, becoming a digital version of everything from classrooms to funeral homes. Most of these virtual meetings were completely ordinary, but there was a darker side to this platform during the early 2020s that few knew about. Today we explore it.

Zoom bombers are still out there, shockingly. I facilitate weekly peer support meetings and we get bombers every so often. And the way I know they are kids doing it is because this only happens during summer and right around the winter holidays. In other words, it only happens when the kids don't have school to worry about.

My partner is a CART captioner who worked with a lot of progressive activist and vulnerable groups during COVID, and it feels like at one point at least once a week they would have to deal with one of them being zoombombed with real gore and other illegal material. It was so horrifying to see the effect it had on them.

Judge Middleton is a good guy. He’s just not privy to how the online stuff can go, but I think he realized what a dedicated community he had spawned through his channel with a lot of outpouring support for him and his staff for what they do.

It gave average people who have never seen the inside of a courtroom an idea how things worked. He showed compassion, but didn’t care to set people straight when it was warranted. He upheld the law and stood by the book. Same with Judge Simpson. A lot of people in their communities tuned in to the court proceedings thanks to them, learned a lot about how the process actually works, with some even taking up an interest in becoming a judge or lawyer. Neither of them set out to have any YouTube fame, but I think the good outweighed the bad in the long run with allowing the public to see everything.

What I especially hated about Zoom was the fact that a class you thought was private between you and the other attendees could easily end up being recorded for one embarrassing moment and uploaded for millions to see. Privacy simply wasn't a thing when your entire existence could be defined by a single bad moment to millions of spectators.

Yeah bro I’m never watching this dude again he’s just yapping soo much just get to the point bro and stop repeating yourself, after every zoom incident or whatever you call it you explain how worse it can be and you just repeat yourself all the time. Bro WE know that it can be worse stop explaining the same stuff all the time, I probably skipped 5-7 minutes because you just explain the whole time. GET TO THE POINT
