I realized two things watching this just now even though I've watched the movie multiple times…Ronny Cox is the bad guy in Robocop and the police chief in Beverly Hills Cop. The other thing I noticed is that when Burt Reynolds squints, he looks A LOT like Norm McDonald.

I'm in my late 60's & have been on canoe treks & whitewater since & was 10. I snuck into this film when it first came out (I was 14.) IMHO this is the most realistic outdoor film ever (even more than a lot of documentaries.) I thought so then, and even more so now. Every actor in this film has delivered ASTONISHING performances in their long careers: Midnight Cowboy, Network, Boogie Nights, Beverly Hills Cop. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (P.S. I don't think you're an AI bot?)

Back in the mid 90s my cousin and and I rented Deliverance from our local movie rental place, and for weeks afterwards we would annoy the hell out of our parents by saying we were inviting Ned Beatty over for hotdogs in buns.
We also took a trip to Tennessee and were terrified to go into the rest stop bathroom in the mountains because we thought mountain men were waiting in there to assault us 😅

My daughter could almost do that. She couldn't step thru her hands, but she could clasp them behind her back and then bring them over her head to the front without letting go. It was pretty cool. She was 3 at the time.

There was a funny gag on Fresh Prince of Bel-Air where Will and Carlton were lost in the woods and ran into some Hillbillies. After they ran away, one of the Hillbillies said, "Ever since 'Deliverance' came out, we can never make friends no more."
